Well, Pokedex entries can vary from scientific theory to an urban legend written by a 10 year old, neither thing is necessarily a fact. I take most Pokedex entries as world building of how people react to the Pokemon, rather than exact traits or explanation.

I think I've figured it out!!! I feel like you were REALLY on the right track, so i wanna expand a bit on your hypothesis. In Hau'oli city is where you first see a pikachu , from that Pokefinder mini-game. And you can catch one in the same area as an Abra, as you pointed out. If you think of this on an evolutionary level, if both Abra and Pikachus ( and pichu's) are found here then that would mean there is something in that area that both Abra's and pikachu's like. Pokemon Sun entry for Abra - " It sleeps 18 hours a day. Even while sleeping, it will teleport itself to treetops and pick and eat berries there." That entry is the ONLY time that it talks about Abra eating berries. So that leads me to believe that whats happening is not the SUGAR, but what kinda things do people put in pancakes? BERRIES. In the real world its strawberries and Blue berries. What if the berries that are in the pancakes are what could be sharpening their psychic powers. If you watch the anime, on that pancake race, Raichu holds two stacks of pancakes and there are varying berries on BOTH of the stacks, and images behind depicting another berry as a display. ( i would link an image here but i dont wanna get it seen as spam, but its there i promise) Now, a Payapa berry has the ability to reduce effectiveness of psychic attacks. Which would inversely mean that eating it more often could make the body more accepting of psychic'itude... or some equivalent word. Eventually over time, the pikachu through epigenetic changes could adapt to that berry. And there are Watmel, Durin, Rabuta and Wepears that increase pokemon " Cleverness". What if both Abra and Pikachu have access to all these berries, ( being that this is a major city, likely ALL berries can be found there and could be grown there as well), and that simply is the ones that they prefer, and as a side effect gave both increased mental capabilities. So yeah, thats my hypothesis on that. I couldnt find any other real clues in game, like an item dropped in that area that had any psychic link or berries, but looking at it from an evolutionary perspective, i think its a far more fitting explanation on how its possible.

isn't the idea of the pokedex that we're going out and gathering information on the pokemon as we catch them? Even with some magical tech that scans things super accurately and finds actual truthful tidbits about it's past there's no way you're getting perfect detailed info, the only reason we have to suspect otherwise is because Pokemon falls apart if you think about it too hard already so it kinda forces you to suspend your disbelief and just roll with it.

Funny enough, we know from the new anime that schools do exist. They dropped in Pokemon Journeys this really big bomb of info and i never saw anyone talking about it. Even though people have joked about schools and the kids wandering off at 10 years old for Decades now, when the crazy info was just dropped, no one but me seemed to care. The crazy info, that yes, there are normal schools, and yes, all the kids we EVER knew from anime and games are actually just skipping school. I cant believe no one but me seems to care!!

I've got a theory - pikachus already had a certain psychic inclination, ie their brain structure was close to unlocking psychic powers but not quite there yet. The surfing Pikachu in the anime is one of a community of pikachus which has been quite isolated from the rest of the Pikachu population. A pikachu or two from that community reached Alola from Kanto and living in further isolation, in a place where surfing provides an advantage due to the vast ocean's presence and where abras are already using psychic powers, these pikachus evolved over generations into alolan raichus. This explains the common blue eyes. Perhaps accidental mating with abras was involved. Now just gotta fit in pancakes.

OR it's something more rooted in Alola; Ultra Energy. The excess Ultra Energy in Alola from the Psychic-Type Necrozma has led to Raichu becoming attuned to it, being able to manipulate the energy in the air. Ultra Energy manifests in crystals attuned to every type (sometimes certain species) and locations with large amounts of it are home to a Pokemon much larger than others of its species.

DuskyPredator Stadium Blastoise used his shell cannons to perform Hydro Pump. Let’s go Blastoise doesn’t. It’s performed the same as Scald. And the Let’s go games look WAY better than Sword/Shield. Honestly I say you shouldn't worry. I know Lockstin talked a lot about healthy and such but I simply think that with the human body it is way to complicated to keep track of every little thing, and that no single body work the same. And it leads back to my experience for when I was young and my parents keep the news channel on whenever I came back from school, I remember a lot of contradicting news on health. The biggest one was "Eggs give you this cancer and that cancer" only for a few months to go 180 and say "Eggs are a super food and should have that in your everyday diet". Main point is relax a bit since we don't know what your specific body does and sort of wait and see so that you can adjust your diet accordingly.
