I understand what Tyler is saying, I had 2k games of league before swapping to dota. I can’t even play league now, you feel such a lack of agency in lol, especially on the more supportive roles. What Tyler doesn’t understand is the rest of the game is designed around things like turn rate and collision, and is tied together with ability design and hero balance. Take a basic example, imagine if you’re chasing a cm as a melee hero in lane, if she could just run away and instantly frostbite and nova, even after you have already closed the distance, they would have to nerf the duration of her root and the % slow. But because it has the weakness of those abilities being unusable if the enemy is already close and her health is low, it can be more powerful when used aggressively. It’s a legacy feature, play more than 50 games coming from from lol and you will be fine. In that time you should be worrying more about learning items and hero kit anyway, since every hero isn’t a cookie cutter design and items actually do things in dota.

Started watching some dota games after being disconnected from dota since 2017 or so. I have to say, at least 50% if not more the game is just the carry clearing every neutral camp. Every either buys dagger or uses some kind of invisibility, sometimes even both, then them just fishing for kills. Always a blink stun/cc into either a nuke or a few hits. Gameplay is almost always the same.
