McCarthy is on a rookie deal. If the Vikings keep Darnold they are going to have to pay him big money. If McCarthy is worth a #1 pick, the Vikings are going to keep him or ask for more than just one #1 pick. More than likely the Vikings will keep McCarthy and franchise Darnold so they can trade him for some value. Darnold has had a breakout season, but I’m not sold on him yet. He has Justin Jefferson to throw to, a pretty good run game to rely on, and a pretty good defense behind him. Darnold doesn’t have to do it all by himself, therefore there’s no pressure on him to do it all. On the Jets & Panthers the pressure was there and on the Raiders it will be too.
