To be fair by this point, if you know anything about what they’d done and how much work they were doing on their “golden treadmill” around they world (not to mention just the level of fame), any producer would have more than tolerated their excesses.. after all please please me (the LP not the single) was recorded in one 18 hour recording session. As much as any band, and certainly more than the “manufactured” groups they paid their dues.

+David Kennedy - These guys were the Darlings of EMI. They could screw around all they wanted in the studio. The Beatles didn't need to get the songs down in a rehearsal room and then get in the studio to record in order to save money - they pretty much had unlimited studio time. I love listening to how the guys messed around. Just a few lads loving their jobs, at least at the time of these recordings. Compare this to the atmosphere during the "Let It Be" sessions. At THAT point in time they could barely get anything done...

Hahaha! Check it out, at around 13:00 John disappears from the studio. When he returns he is coughing. Then you hear Paul say, "You got a bit left?" Then Paul leaves. When he returns he says, "I' just got in from Olympia, I lit the torch." I am betting that they were puffing on the jazz cigarrette. Now, of course, I could be wrong. But I'm not. .

John finds the solution (for Think For Yourself) they finally used at 1:00, but didn't recognize it worked until going through more "wrong" answers. We probably want to think that those brilliant new sounds fell into to place from "genius" when in fact they were just clawing through the weeds and bogs like the rest of us but kept going in new directions. The long "boot camp" in Hamburg established the value of clawing through all the musical rubbish till you find something new and recognize its value. It's cool to listen to how the gears turned. The process sounds so normal to any start up business.

Well yeah, they did write all those timeless amazing songs. Those timeless amazing songs did not magically spring into existence, the songs needed to be hashed out. This was George's song, and George's songs were always suppressed, due to the dynamic Lennon/Mcartney duo. These priceless out takes are an incredible insight to their creative process. Any one of the Beatles brain-farts have more talent than Kanye and the computer loop rap crap that passes for music today.

To say that daft conversations wouldn't go on during their sessions is daft. By fall '65' they would have the studio for weeks or months. They were still young and clowning about, because they could. But when you hear them do 3 part harmony.....Wow. NOBODY sounded like them. They didn't use headphones for recording in the studio until Revolver, so you can hear the monitor playback as they overdub. Classic Beatle chatter. I wish there was more.

kswannie sung to the tune of "Do you want to know a secret" no less. All this work for one line of one of their more obscure songs. A forgotten ad lib by JL that was pure gold. "Do you want to hold a penis". He must have said these comments all the time.

George Martin was recording this chat session for possible release on a fan club record. Needless to say, there wasn't much 'straight' material to put on a record, and it was abandoned. Thankfully, it was preserved so we can hear it.

Yes, it is. Now do you think it's realistic that they developed that, along with the rest of pretty much this entire album, from NOTHING, in only 30 days? Remember how everyone used to think that The Beach Boys played everything on Pet Sounds, but then it turned out that session players did it all, and all the boys did was sing? Yeah, that's what happened with these sessions too.
@wobby1268

@@youtubeman78937 The Beach Boys were primarily a vocal group, known more for their vocalizations and harmonies than their instrumentation. An entirely different story than the Beatles, whom time and testimony have shown to be excellent musicians.

Sidthing the Beatles were great song writers but none were, nor claimed to be, great musicians. Anyone who can play a guitar passably well can tell you that the songs, ingenious as they may be in many cases, are relatively easy to play. I could play most of them back in the day. So why hire studio musicians to play them? There is also a distinct development in musical terms through the band's compositional work, and this may even be evidence of a conspiracy to improve pop music.
