I, personally, would recommend that you do more rail reports, given that your airline reports are of very high quality. Have a look at Brightline in Florida as well as some of the state-supported Amtrak services in California.

We've watched many of your train reports and had no idea that this was the FIRST one you did. It's excellent. As former residents of ABQ, we're glad you found it during your stay. We try to ride it every time we visit the Duke City (ABQ) to the City Different (SFE). The Rail Runner design was done by a fabulous graphic artist, Rick Vaughn. It's based on NM's state bird - the Roadrunner. You can hear the "Meep-Meep" sound when the doors open/close. We've enjoyed all your train reports, but this one is extra-special for us. Thank you!

I love trains, so any train trip report is my cup of tea. I live near Santa Fe and can offer a few comments. I hate to admit it, but I've never ridden the Railrunner in the 7 years I've lived here full-time. It's a great way to do a day trip between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, especially if you don't want to drive and hassle with parking in Santa Fe (which is a bear in the summer high season). There are connecting buses to the ABQ airport, so a traveler can arrive and take the train on up to Santa Fe. You traveled on a Saturday, that wasn't a "fair," it was the weekly Farmer's Market - the main part of which is a 3-minute walk from the train. Santa Fe is a very walkable little city, as you found out. I see you also walked around and saw the "Roundhouse," the only USA state capitol building that is - yes - round. Next time be sure to walk to the Plaza, the heart and soul of the city. And don't miss the many art galleries on Canyon Road, the cultural center of Santa Fe. Also, at the beginning of the Santa Fe footage your train passed a fantastic "locals type" restaurant, La Choza, which is excellent and inexpensive for lunch. Yes, more train videos, especially great trains like the Eurostar, some of the steam train adventures in Colorado, and the Wine Train in Napa Valley. The Amtrak Surfliner from San Diego to San Luis Obispo travels right next to the Pacific Ocean beaches for quite a bit of the route, it's a great train.

As both a train and air geek, I enjoyed the video. The "Bombardier" that makes the rail cars is the same company that makes the CRJ and CSeries aircraft. You might want to do a series comparing the Delta and American Shuttles between downtown New York, Washington and/or Boston with Amtrak's Accela trains.

Awesome! I live in Albuquerque and I can say the rail runner is always so exciting to hop on to! For anyone wondering: the rail runner doesn’t have any food or WiFi, but it’s only an hour and a half long flight. Also the seats are not exactly Emirates suite worthy, but they aren’t bad, with plenty of leg room. The outlets are only at the table seats, so if you want to charge your phone sit there!

I live just east of Albuquerque and typically ride one of my motorcycles up to Santa Fe when I want to grab breakfast or lunch and do a few other things up there, but it’s cold and somewhat snowy right now (2.16.2023) so I’m taking the Rail Runner for my first time ever and looking forward to just relaxing, having lunch and walking around before heading back to Albuquerque. By the way, military veterans ride for free any day, any time.

This was a great video and would definitely be interested in seeing more train videos. Like someone mentioned wondering about outlets, food, restrooms, etc. you could mention how you bought the ticket and what the waiting area is like. Is it all through your phone or do you need a ticket? Since you're in DC pretty often, you could try the MARC train next. I took that from BWI to downtown and it was really efficient. You could make a video showing how you get from the airport to the station, the train, and then an overview of how beautiful Union Station is.

You did a very nice job on reviewing this train! If you want to ride a cross country train, it can be expensive but most of the time fun, and you will have to stay on the train the whole time until you get to your destination. If you want the best review possible cross country in America, i suggest taking Amtrak's roomette stay with a friend or family member. Train food on them should taste decent and views on any of Amtrak's long distance routes will be brilliant. I haven't really been on a train cross country before, but I have experience riding them on short distances, so take my advice or not but that's really all i have. Train rides are very fun and safe to travel on, i bet your experience will be just as good as my own.

I think the video was professional and upbeat. My mom lives in Albuquerque and have done that specific trip numerous times. If you do it again, try to get to Loretto Chapel. The staircase up to the choir chancel is one continuous piece of wood! No nails, the story goes (abbreviated) the sisters that ran the mission built the church, and ran out of money to pay for a staircase up to the choir chancel. They began praying novena's to inspire some divine intervention. They ended up praying the novena 9 times. Then an itinerant carpenter said he could build it, but he needed complete privacy while doing it. It was completed and when the sisters wanted to thank him, he just "disappeared". It has been studied by professor of architecture and it was found not to have any nails in it, and like most spiral staircases, there is no newel. The straight support from the ground to the top. It is truly an interesting story and a great place to visit.

Once I get to my final destination by air, I love to use public transportation, especially rail, to explore the surrounding area. In Europe, rail is such a convenient and inexpensive way to get around that it just makes sense. As much as I love air travel, taking the railway let's one see more of this beautiful planet we live on. I agree with previous comments that I would enjoy it if you would review more railways on your travels.

@JoshDoesTravel

Fast CSX Well on most Amtrak services, there is a cafe car where food can be purchased, regardless of the journey time. To answer Wayne’s question, most trains like the Rail Runner (more commonly known in the US as commuter trains) don’t have any food service included, usb/power outlets, or WiFi. Some have restrooms, though most don’t. These trains are mainly used by commuters to get in and out of big cities to get to and from work, so all you get really is a seat and a place to put your bags

The train is also equipped with WiFi that connects well, but is kind of slow, certain seats do have tables with electric outlets underneath, and they all have bathrooms on them. All cars are the same, however there is one “Quiet Car” on each where loud conversations and anything playing without headphones is frowned upon. Military and student discounts are available.

My personal recommendation, The Empire Builder running from Chicago to Seattle. The scenery is spectacular and if you get a roomette, meals are free. The trip is three days long, but, you would get a good view of Amtrak.

Good video ... I am used to riding trains in Europe, but have never done this in the US. I am now interested in the 'Rail Runner'. Might want to show a bit more of the countryside out the window - "what will I be looking at for 1 hour". Also, show where luggage might go. Thanks! Looking forward to more rail reports on this continent!

nice and i love train reports( like for example by Paul) and it would so great to see more of them when you utilize trains...and ferries too btw...maybe a little more info on stations themselves and scenery but really fun
