Raila Odinga has pledged to champion Africa’s representation at the United Nations Security Council by having at least two permanent seats with veto powers. This, Raila said, will give the continent a meaningful voice in global security matters. He also vowed to push for intra-trade among member states to break tarrif barriers and promote economic growth and integration if elected as chairman of the African Union Commission. Raila spoke in a debate dubbed Mjadala Africa with his opponents Djibouti’s Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, and Richard Randriamandrato of Madagascar Friday evening.
