Excellent video. Very nice work and a beautiful layout.

Glad I watched, meh video but the description was worth a read. Always nice when club members and those more established in MRR help those out who cannot afford good locomotives, even if it's just one. It can make all the difference, and really make the hobby a joy.

I'm gonna say that doubling the length of this video is the same as two thumbs up for that locomotive and your install. Guess I know who to go to for my next steam/sound project. :D Thanks again Shane!

I watched this beautiful engine go through its paces and I thought back to my youth; I am 79, and I had Standard , 0 and 027 and later in life N and Marklin and Fleishman sets and I built layouts. Watching your magnificant Big Boy I have had a thought I have never had before; technology will overcome model trains and morph into other models not restricted by rails and a whole new model world will emerge.I think it already is emerging. It is sad but it will happen and you and I and your Dad and model train clubs will become an antiquity that I hope survive so that younger generations can see what was popular before and perhaps what they are missing ???
@RailfanJason10 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I think it's already happening sadly enough. Pretty much anyone can go buy their own "drone" off Amazon. Wireless, things that fly, eventually, I can see doing that. But that's why I do what I do and here on YT to at least attempt to slow that process and keep people interested in this. To me, model railroading is 3D art and many aspects of it can help people in other areas outside the hobby too.

Still one of the most massive/most incredible examples of functional human ingenuity that exists. Hands down. Ready to see 4014 back in action! Edit: if anyone disagrees, bare in mind most modern locos coming out are about 1900 HP shy of what Big Boy has under the hood. #fyteme

Sweet video Jason! She looks great, and sounds nice as well! Will be cool to see you put it in the 4014 paint, maybe a revel video like they might do with the real 4014? So....... how about the W&LE units now? :D Thanks for sharing and again for that S/O!
@RailfanJason10 жыл бұрын
When the 4014 conversion is complete, yes, there will be a special video for it. I'm having visions of my 844, 3985 and 4014 triple heading something. :D I have some cars to patch for Dad, then my goal is to get the W&LE units done this winter. So, we shall see. And yeah, hoping that mention gets you some traffic on your channel. It's in my defaults now so it'll be in all my video posts to come. Thanks Spencer!

@RailfanJason8 жыл бұрын
Haven't really had the chance to see what it will max out at, but it pulls a lot. As for grades, the layout is a modular club layout so there are no real grades to speak of. We have one "flyoever" that has a 2% that goes up and over the mains, and it'll go up that just fine.
@sithlord16269 жыл бұрын
ur layout is amazing, I have a MTH big boy and he's good for 30 cars or so...depending on how level my track is of course, I believe the atherns are more powerful than the MTH brand though
@BastiaanBlinksma8 жыл бұрын
+sithlord1626 I had a TRIX one which was prettys strong too 30 cars and a ramp of 2.5%, no problem at all.

hey Jason... awesome looking ..running & sounding loco... Shane did an excellent job... great run by also... was it 39 or 40.. i kinda lost count in the middle... LOL.. congrates & thanks for sharing... vinny
@RailfanJason10 жыл бұрын
Thanks Vinny, appreciate it. Shane did do a super job. I had 40 cars on it. It was more like 60-70 though since they are all weighted down more than what they are out of the box. Dad put a lot of work into this train. Which I need to put in the description, the train is Dad's, not mine, I don't actually have a 40s-50s era train. Thanks again, and glad you enjoyed it.

Tsunami did a bad job. sounds like a jackhammer and goes 8 chuffs per revolution. that would be fine for a 4-8-8-8-8-4, but not a 4-8-8-4.
