Turn up the volume and listen to these SD70's wine-up from a stop to main-line speeds. Nice warning signal by a Nathan Airchime K5LLA. Two Gevo DPU's on the rear. High Ball!!!!

When the hi-rail goes by at 1:16 it is a real testament to the scale of that machine. It just dwarfs that truck. Great video.

You can see how massive those SDs are when the hi-railer passes by! Yup, it's horns, lights and the spin up of tremendous horsepower-- IT'S SHOWTIME!!!

Great recording. Piped through a good A/D converter into a high-end system, I had the walls 'flapping' on the pass-by. Getting down in the sub 40 hz. area I think. Excellent!

Thank you, thank you. I'm a retired engineer of 36 years, 1974-2011. Give me an EMD, any age on any train anywhere. GP9 to SD70. EMD sold locomotives because they are good. GE sold locomotives because the cried foul, big bad EMD will have a monopoly, make them buy our engines. I talked to EMD people about that and brother they would turn red in the face. They lost sales because of that. GE doesn't complain anymore about monopolies, do they?

EMD is the shit. i've tested many EMD V_20's on the stand. the whole set up. electrical, instrumentation, hydylics, pnuamatics, welding, painting, 70 tone crane. 2000MCM. cable. 3 phyase 4160V.

It seems that the EMD's at speeds under 26-27 are sweet, the transition always makes me cringe a little! Pulling and then BLAM! You sure hope the hogger doesn't say, "we just fucking lost our air!" I prefer the EMD's from the other side of the cab, but I can't hate on a GE. They rumble-rumble-rumble-in 3/4 time!

I wonder how long it would take to fill up just one of those diesel tanks from your regular bowser. A day if you're lucky, plus you'd have to stop and reset it every 100 gallons

LOVE LOVE LOVE the sound of that locomotive,..especially at idle and then winding up for the start. The SD70Ace is my favorite,...followed by the SD70MAC.

For the first 30 seconds, I thought it was a picture of a train as I couldn't see the trees moving due to the wind or no smoke from the engine....but after seeing it closely, It was a real engine...😃

Very nice footage, except invest in a trypod with fluid head, will make a beautifull difference, and wow there are a few square wheels on that train, I am an ex driver for Australian national railways.

I was pulling 660,000 pound rail cars loaded to dah hill with shreds and coal, 3,000 brake wheel horse power each wheel full inter axel wheel locks. Go with throttle up, running a fiat Alice tug boat engine 16 cylinder

toilet is usually in the nose compartment of the locomotive (also known as short hood) , there is door inside the cabine

They be runnig Cat engines in them now since Cat bought out EMD but im sure they are still installing EMD 710s ind some at buyers request, but dont hold me on that cause i culd still be wrong on some details

emily kroll The new F125 passenger locomotive will have a 4-stroke CAT engine, but I've heard of none going into freight locos. It's still the 2-stroke 710 engine in the SD70 line.

Does anyone know if these Locomotives operate/operated on Freight Routes between New Orleans Region and Florida back as far as 1970's until 2010/2011 ... .. In particular, EMD SD70MAC BNSF Heritage II #9842 (as I am considering Purchasing one), or does anyone know of any particular Road Numbers that operate in said era and regions? I am designing a layout based on various Locations between Louisiana and Central Eastern Florida.
