I've been a train buff for over 30 years, and seen thousands of videos. Just when I thought I had seen the best, you tube recommended yours- all I can say is wow!! I love the crystal clear picture, different camera angles and spectacular sound. Liked + subscribed. Thanks for the hard work, and sharing this with us!

jess dine Thank you so much for the comment, and the sub :D I think the "look" of a video is just as important as the subject so I try my best.

I've watched a lot of railfanning vids - this one is extra crisp and clear. And its extra nice when its an area I know - having lived in the general Portland and surrounding region for many decades.

If you’re interested in catching this, UP seems to have changed how they switch out with Oregon Pacific, now it’s a NB local (Salem?) that does both the pick up and drop off (staging occurring at Coalca Siding). It usually starts after noon, maybe 1ish on Sundays. Both Coast Starlights will usually pass through during the process.

Im headed out to canby tomorrow afternoon from about 1-4. Other than 14 and 11, can you take a guess on how many fright trains ill see? Not sure the frequency.
@neilybobmojo_railfanning9 жыл бұрын
That is typically a slower time of day for the area but maybe a local out of Portland, the Portland-Albany general freight, a baretable, and maybe the Roseville-Portland train. Never can quite tell, hope you see something!
@AmtrakPNW9 жыл бұрын
Cool, thanks for the info. Im headed out to mainy see 11 and 14, but hopefully I get a UP before then. What is the busiest time of day for the area?
@neilybobmojo_railfanning9 жыл бұрын
Usually during the evening which of course is no good for railfanning. The major trains get to move after the Amtraks move through so around 3:30 to 7PM seem to be the best.

Alrighty. Ill have to wait for the days to get longer so I can get good daytime shots of some freights. Ill be heading out at 1 and staying until 11 and 14. Thanks for the info, and nice video!

Do freight trains ever go Southeast outta Canby towards Mollala anymore ?
@neilybobmojo_railfanning9 жыл бұрын
+freighttrainsahpassing A few yes. That is the Oregon Pacific railroad and the locomotives at downtown Canby in this video are finishing a drop off for that railroad. Then they continue light back to their train at Coalca. I'm not sure about train frequency out to Liberal (the current end of the route to Mollalla) but most days there is action in Canby.

a partir del minuto 13:10 se vé algo extraño que no alcanzo a distinguir bien, parece como si de debajo del tren saliera algo o alguien muy pequeño, alguien puede decirme de que se trata...?
@jplaw25089 жыл бұрын
+Santiago Caballero Looked to me like someone jumped off, went to the side with a large object which they left, then went back to the train for another large object and then back to the side. A trespasser and his two duffel bags? Anyone else see this and have an idea? Then you can clearly see another jump off at 13:48. They walk away along the tracks until the edit at 15:30.
