This is the same spot in 1990 where the tower to switch tracks was still in operation. Loved watching that guy on what seemed like a great job.

@cvgeeps That's an advance approach diverging (proceed onto the diverging route at slow speed expecting to stop at the next signal) for Belt Junction, where the BRC crosses the NS-Metra line.

Nice to see a train using a connecting track (NE quadrant) that was not there during the tower days. It was not on the tower's track diagram, and it would have had to cross the Panhandle before Conrail.

Last time I was here I got chased out by a NS cop within 15 minutes. There are no signs posted but this area is considered private property. And the surrounding neighborhood isn't exactly Mayberry either.

@JLJ061 It's still very accessible, yes. Just that no one seems to go there anymore. The tower might be gone, but the traffic is just as heavy as it always was.

@RailfanningRulez The '70MAC must have been having engine problems. It does sound a lot better than the GEVO though :P

I haven't been here since the tower was still in operation. Is the interlocking still just as accessible today or is it now considered off limits?
@Nachtwolf113 жыл бұрын
@TBirdSCIL The only time I ever had an issue, a CSX cop came through on regular rounds I guess, talked to me and asked if I was a railfan, I said yes and he left. That was it! The neighborhood is a bit rough, yes, but it's not as bad as they come, for sure.

No the south side of Chicago is extremely dangerous, you take 1 wrong turn and you become a statistic. It's what happens when crime is allowed to go unpunished thanks to the governor and mayor beetlejuice protecting the criminal element
