Railfanning in College Station, TX at Texas A&M University - December 15, 2021 (Union Pacific w/ HU)

Railfanning videos are FINALLY BACK! Last winter, I came down to College Station for a visit literally right after I finished my fall semester in school. And while I was in town, I went railfanning along the Texas A&M's campus. This time, I've gotten at least a much better video since the last time I came on campus in September/October. But the only thing is that I used my iPhone 12 Pro Max to film this video other than my regular video camera because I didn't get enough time to set up my tripod as the train was already flying by about 3 minutes prior to me coming to the rails. That being said, hope you guys enjoy this railfanning video featuring a heritage unit! Not to mention, James (Bryan / College Station Elevators and more) was also with me while out on the rails. Anyway, this has marked off the last railfanning site for the year of 2021. More railfanning videos for 2022 is underway! :D

Nice catches Jim! The horn you hear with UP2590 is actually a rather uncommon K5HLA, rather than the K5LLA used on EMD motors. Good to see you got that and UP1982!

I’m not really good with other horns other than the K5LLA train horn used on the SD70ACe. Never knew that the horn on the Union Pacific 2590 C45AH is a K5HLA. Do you know Shawn (Houston Rail Productions)? He studies at Texas A&M and told me about the Union Pacific 1982 heritage unit.

the standard K5HLA and K5LLA are the same horns, same bells, same notes only difference is the HLA is on a high profile manifold, meaning theres basically 2 levels, 3 bells on the top and the last 2 on the bottom while an LLA is on a low profile manifold, all 5 bells are on one level standard K5LLA and K5HLA are fit with the 1L, 1, 2, 3A and 4A bells the hybrid HLA on the other hand tho has its 4A bell swapped with a regular 4 bell, giving it its distinct sound of a LLA and HL hybrid, which is basically what it is

@@jdrailfan5424 Do you actually plan on visiting Texas anytime soon? Because I sort of know that you live somewhere in the upper east, but I can’t remember where. Somewhere in New Jersey? Hard to tell! But yeah, I will say that College Station is not only a great place to railfan, but the people there are super friendly and so much laid-back as well!
