I know. It is so dangerous! One of the express trains just zoomed by next to a local and scared the crap out of me! I had no idea it was even coming!

It is because the BNSF Railway once used to operate passenger trains, but then they cancelled all operations and just operated freight instead. Metra bought the coaches.

1. New subscriber. 2. Awesome video! I live on the BNSF Railway metra line! I wish Metra kept the mp36 locomotive on the BNSF Railway metra line.

Wowee, those MotivePower locomotives sure look snappy in that new livery.

I'm not exactly sure why. The only reason I can think of is because this is the BNSF line.

The BNSF labeled ones are EX CBQ cars, ordered in the 1950s, They are owned by BNSF Railway and leased to Metra. You also notice they have wider fluting than the others as well and are in the 700-815 Series.

The Metra Shop forces at the Zephyr Pit placed "BURLINGTON" and "BNSF RAILWAY"on 12 cars, 6 cars each, all of these cars were ex CB&Q cars. They did this about 2009.

Why do some of those cars have BNSF logos on them? Awesome video!

I don't kow if it is a quiet zone, but with four crossings so close together there would be no time to do the crossing horn of 2 longs a short and a long for each crossing in La Grange, other suburbs are the same. In some of the videos, when the local is moving out the express hits the horn, but when the local is stationary discharging passengers there is no need as the train is blocking the crossing.

Totally agree with you. I'd rather lose 2 or 3 hours of sleep at night if I live right by the tracks than be killed by a train. They blow their horns for a reason.

I believe that's the carl sandburg train #383

I would probably get used to it within 2 or 3 days. As much as I love trains...I don't care if they keep me up late at night.

is 20:42 the Illinois Zephyr or the Carl Sandburg?

I hate the MP-36's. They are EVERYWHERE! More of the F40PHM "Winnebago"s PLEASE!!! :P

Well you got your wish a few months after this video was made. Be thankful. Btw, only 5 of the 27 MP36’s did BNSF service until they were banished from the line for “operating difficulties.”
