We know that currently our engines can go Upto 180-200 km/hr but speed has been restricted because of tracks and other issue's...so we need to focus on other issue's.

Most Indian Railway tracks are not capable of handling over 140kph barring the Delhi-Agra section that can do 150-160 kph. India needs to move in a different direction with respect to HSR and build dedicated standard gauge true HSR tracks linking major metros. The bandaid fix with BG tracks has limitations and at best can be used for semi high speed trains. India lacks HSR technology so in order for them to import Alstom or Japanese HSRs, they need dedicated SG lines.

Recently I travelled by both 2302 Rajdhani from NDLS-HWH and returned by 12259 Duronto between SDAH-NDLS, the GPS on both these trains touched 129-130 max. which is the rated speed of LHB rakes in India, though the P7s hauling these trains can go up to 140 KMPH. My experience even by the 2951 Rajdhani, back in October, was the same, it only accidentally did 132 kmph, possibly on a downward gradient for 2 mts. otherwise, touched 130 kmph max. Yes, at the moment the 2951 does 1382 kms. in 15.35 hrs. at about 89 kmph. The 22221 CSMT-NZM Rajdhani is also covering 1543 kms. in 17.55 hrs. at about 87 kmph, and is easily the 2nd fastest Rajdhani in India. I also travelled by NR's 12264 Duronto (what a lousy rake in terms of maintenance), which also runs fast primarily between NZM-BRC and touches 86 kmph.

Iron Mocker In theory, BG will support HSR better than SG tracks due to the wider tracks. However, most if not all of the rolling stock makers make HSR sets only on Standard Gauge. BG is exclusively used in the Indian subcontinent with India being the dominant user. None of the existing BG tracks in India would support HSR. And India doesn’t have the technical know how to make true HSR rolling stock. They have to depend on Alstom or Japanese rolling stock. And the tracks would have to be brand new and might as well be SG. Russia is the only country that has managed to build a HSR on their track gauge which is between SG and BG in terms of width. Siemens made the rolling stock for Sapsan which can do 250 Kph. So potentially Siemens can make BG rolling stock if need be. But since everything in India for a true HSR line has to start from scratch, going with SG would give them a wider choice as both the tracks and the rolling stock would have to come from an European or Japanese maker. None of the existing BG tracks in India would support HSR and they are designed for 130-150 kph speeds.
@@MuhammadIamhardBrucelee yeah in that way, Mamta as RM ruined our chance of diversification and faster trains at least in the Metro routes by over-ruling Sreedharan who said that Delhi metro should run on SG, she said trains should run on BG. I dunno which moron advised her.

@@nanu6920 yes it is capable of doing 210 but it is imported from ABB Switzerland (first 10), and they can not haul long trains (20-24 coaches) as compared to WAP7, WAP 7 can easily pull and accelerate. That's the reason you cannot see WAP 5's due to gradient sections. On the other hand WAP 7 handles easily.

There should be some basic changes in the design of the locomotive. It should be much more aero-dynamic so that air drag can be reduced thus increasing the speed.

We are feeling good with maximum speed attained. Anywhere along a long journey , average speed is what determines the speed vs distance covered. That will not be more than 100 kmph Till our track and congestion problems are solved , we can continue to get thrilled on maximum speeds

Rail coaches were even designed and manufactured for fit to travel for 160 KMPH as long back as in 1977. Please verify in RTI query with Indian Railways.

Which track route in India can support the speed of 180 kmph.....The maximum speed of Loco is already severely reduced to 140 or 160 from 210 kmph of the Original Variant....The tracks are weak they barely support the speed of 160 kmph for a short period of time....
