24:46 This tram sounds so nice, and looks cool like a Stadtbahn!

Yes the GEC-Alsthom TFS of Nantes is the first modern tram in France so they didn't really know how to make it and they started from a base of the Parisian metro MF77, they were only with 2 coaches with the raised floor from their manufacture in 1984 (sometimes with 2 units of 2 coaches) until the addition of the intermediate coach with the lowered floor to allow access to the wheelchair users in 1992 (the lasts units are from 1994 like this one in 24:46 and their drive train sings louder than the others units but it's not the best like n⁰338 or 343 and it wasn't filmed on the 70km/h section right next from the Haluchère), it's the the only trams in France with a high floor, Grenoble almost had one but people in wheelchairs demonstrated in the city in order to have a tram that was partially accessible to them. Thanks to a test of a train from Grenoble in Rotterdam, they realized that the low floor at all doors allowed a huge time saving at stops and therefore allowed them to catch up with the preceding trains, even if they were less powerful. Following this, modern French trams quickly became completely low-floor like the ADtranz/Bombardier Incentro in this video, the first French tram with 100% low floor (while Alstom without h, was sure to win with his citadis 301 like Montpellier and Orléans, but they had a few steps in places in the carriage) I love this trams, It's my whole childhood and I'm sad to see them go, replaced by these citadis (and I'm a little disappointed not to have seen more in this video but it doesn't matter, I'm trying to enjoy it irl 😁 this video is still nice, I don't have time to do such a long format unfortunately 😅)

The new Alstom Citadis X05 are such a huge improvement on the old trams!
@Myrtone27 күн бұрын
Could that be because of the bogie-under-cab principle, which frees up a lot of interior space, at least in the end segments?

7:00 the Incentro by ABB was one of the better lowfloor tram designs of the early 2000s today the technology still continues in the Alstom Flexity Berlin 1st and 2nd generation ....

I went there many years ago whilst visiting the second world war sites along the Atlantic coast. Again another example of great lighting, love the green. France was always full of neon lighting sadly it’s now been taken over by LEDs.

When used well, LED's can be lovely as well.
