Wat leuk dat je Bielefeld bezoekt hebt! Ik woon hier momenteel en ik werk voor moBiel. Einde van deze mand begin ik met mijn tram license te maken. Als je weer komt de volgende keer ik raad an op de lijn 1 naar Senne te gaan, het is een mix uit underground tram, classic tram op de straat een met een eigen spoorweg. Sorrie als iets niet klaar is, ik kan niet zo veel Nederlands maar ik dacht ik probeer het uit. :D

Kamineiro it’s a nationalwide joke (or a running gag) in Germany. If you ask a German something about Bielefeld he will deny that Bielefeld exist. If you speak about Bielefeld he will say: Bielefeld does not exist.

Nice video of system. Was there many years ago from Scotland, when early sections of the tunnel sections were opened. Liked the Orange, dark grey and white livery then. With the new white livery on the great looking new system, the city has lost its identification, more orange and grey in the new livery please. System now looks great and fulfilling its purpose well. Thanks for posting a great video.

Can't wait man.. As an american. I do not live in the 5 big cities. We are completely depending on a car.. Each of our 50 states has different gas prices. Different states will charge more For Insurance, And Registration also.. Then we have to Pay sales tax. Each state is different.

I always thought that gas prices were low in the States compared to Europe and my country in particular, the Netherlands! But distances are of course much longer! A cousin of mine went to live in Canada in 1993. He has to drive like 20-30 miles to the nearest shops. Here I hop on my bike to the nearest supermarket, only 5 minutes away. But I do own a car to go places that are further away or can't be reached by public transport easily.

@@horseplop9 Living in a small country, which is roughly the size of Minnesota, but has 3 times more inhabitants, roughly 17,5 million, has advantages, but also downsides! I live in the middle of the country, but can get to Amsterdam within 1,5 hours by train from my local trainstation. One of the disadvantages is that highways often have traffic jams, trains, metros and busses are overcrowded during rushhour and that there are even traffic jams in bikelanes in the big cities! Now our government has come up with a scheme that allows employers to lease electric bikes basically for free to their employees, for like 7-8 euros a monrh, about 10 dollars US. An e-bike is ideal for commutes up to 15 miles and you get to your workplace without being too sweatty. In combination with "bikelane highways" they hope to keep the country going. Hope to get one of these bikes soon! It is really necessary to invest in schemes like this, since the population is ecpected to peak at 20 million in the 2040s! We still reproduce at a nice rate compared to other western nations and attract a lot of immiggrants from Central and Eastern Europe, from our former colonies and also from the US!

Thanks for the terrific video. This seems to be a very efficient and active metro system. I live in Cincinnati a city about the same size as Bielefeld, but who's metro area is four times as large. No metro here yet, except for our unused never finished heavy rail ghost subway downtown. While we do have a 6 mile circulator tram with 17 stations in the business district mixed in with auto traffic. I would love to see something like this in the downtown Cincinnati, Newport-Covington, Ky. area's and stretch out into the suburbs. I'm dreaming.

Can't believe I only found the video now despite my love for my Hometowns Stadtbahn! Line 3 and 4 having switched destinations almost makes me feel nostalgic. I hope they'll finish preparing Line 3 for the Vamos soon. Line 2 to Altenhagen is my favourite though.

Funfact: the Bielefeld Stadtbahn is the only one in North Rhine-Westphalia that never used any of the DUEWAG Pre-Metro Type B cars (or "B-Wagen" in german). If I were to guess why, I'd say because the Bielefeld network is the only one in NRW that runs on metre gauge, not Standard gauge like the others.

It did, however, use DUEWAG Type M cars ("M-Wagen") - essentially the same as Type B, but metre gauge. I believe they are used to this day, though they also got an updated version that is far more modern than anything on the other NRW light rail networks.

@@SilverScroll I wouldn't call the M Wagen the same as the B Wagen. First there's the entirely different exterior design. Then there's differences regarding passenger capacity (a B-Wagen can carry up to 289 passengers, a M-Wagen only up to 224), Max speed (B-Wagen: 80 to 100 Km/h, M-Wagen: 70 Km/h), floor height (B-Wagen: 1000mm above ground, M-Wagen: 880mm above ground) and Width (B-Wagen: 2650mm, M-Wagen: 2300mm). Also, the M-Wagen actually received a Standard gauge variant dubbed the N-Wagen.

Diese quer zur Fahrtrichtung befindlichen Sitze der M8D finde ich nicht so gut, da immer wieder Fahrgäste vorbeigehen und man so seine (langen) Beine nicht gut ausstrecken kann. Die in Fahrtrichtung befindlichen Sitze finde ich besser. Und: die GTZ8-B Vamos-Wagen haben ein freundlichen "Gesicht".

Nice CGI animation. Bielefeld is the German versiin of the Truman show, the tourist holds the role of Truman, the rest are paid actors, this is why you see so few people. The facades are nice but allmost empty hulls
