Lyon was the first city in the world to introduce these types if railways in cities, back in 1862, and the oldest line still in service dates back to 1878, so a great heritage to preserve

The last time I rode the St Jean, St Just funicular, was Sunday 16 August 1998. At the time, they did not have any faregates set up. The system was proof of payment.
