In the UK we have very few bell crossings left, most crossings went straight from manual gates to alarms
@freebrickproductions4 жыл бұрын
Yea, I've noticed it seems like over there a good number were installed without any bells or alarms, and y'all've also been using alarms a lot longer than we've been using e-bells (since the 1980s, IIRC?).
@tobeytransport28024 жыл бұрын
freebrickproductions I think because our railways are a lot older we have a lot more manual gate than you, there’s one about a 20 minute drive from me
@freebrickproductions4 жыл бұрын
@@tobeytransport2802 That also helps. Over here in the US, we never really did manual gates outside of cities and towns (nor did we really ever fence in most of our rail lines), so automatic signals were able to get put into use rather early (I want to say some of the earliest automatic crossing signals here date back to like the late-1800s, based on the equipment that's been found).

The design. GS Type 2s look like other General Signals e-bells, while Safetran Type 2/NEG e-bells are blue and have a different base design that has holes in it, though some NEG e-bells do have a more General Signals-like base. All Safetran Type 2/NEG e-bells also have a volume control on the side, which General Signals e-bells lack. Some new NEG e-bells also feature an NEG label on the side. Here's some pictures to compare them with: GS Type 2: www.rxrsignals.com/Alabama/Pelham/Stonehaven/20.JPG NEG (base style 1): www.rxrsignals.com/Alabama/Pelham/Lee/56.JPG NEG (base style 2): www.rxrsignals.com/Alabama/Pelham/Lee/35.JPG The two also have slightly different sounds, as NEG/Safetran Type 2 e-bells are slightly softer sounding than GS Type 2s, and they also feature a small "pop" sound when they start (which GS Type 2 don't).

It was actually activated because a rail crane nearby was stopping to get onto a siding track to pick-up some more stuff.

@@freebrickproductions hm.. I was just kind of thinking sort of the same thing too that explains why how you could have recorded almost every railroad bells Crosses by the hour all at once, I am just a fun sense of humor kind of guy that's all. But anyways those video footages that you've recently recorded right? *Great Work!.*

Which one is a common bell in miami
@freebrickproductions6 жыл бұрын
IDK, ask a railfan down there. Not really familiar with Maimi's crossings.

On the Brightline, which goes from Miami to West Palm Beach, all the bells, annoyingly, seem to be General Signals Type 3s.

Honestly i cant tell by which Gen is for WCH Mechanical Bell
@freebrickproductions8 жыл бұрын
The 1st Generation looks like a WRRS/Federal Signal mechanical bell. The 2nd Generation uses a "stair-stepped" base.

if you must or are set on electronic, then the type 3 sounds more realistic.
@BrylcreemBill2 жыл бұрын
I still prefer the sound of mechanical bells to the sound of electronic bells, but I understand why the railroads are switching over, and e-bell technology has improved tremendously since e-bells were first introduced. Some of them actually almost sound like mechanical bells.

My favorite bells are: safetran type 1, gs type 1 and 3, wrrs mechanical bell, Wc Hayes electronic bell, the raco bell, modern industries bell, last but not least the teardrop. One that was not heard here that I like is the Griswold bell
@freebrickproductions7 жыл бұрын

US 278 in Guin, the bell was later replaced with a GS Type 3, and then the crossing had the signals at it replaced entirely later.

The horns can go take a hike, fly a kite, jump in the lake, take a long hike off a short pier...get lost, ear-splitters! (Unless you can lower the volume)

By law, horns are required to be loud, so that people can hear them in their cars.

yeah and most crossings here have quad gates or maybe even quad hinged gates but they all have skirts on the gates and no crossing here has no gates they all do
