I really love this concept. Works so well for games by the esteemed Roland Wright, too.

I ended up with 81 points (40 connections, 12 road, 6 railway, 9 center, -3 errors, 17 for my one (hence smallest) lake. Quite proud of that. First time my copy got taken off the shelf, I got it just before the quarantine. Also, what a nice idea. Even though I missed the live stream it was very fun to do after "returning home" from work, ie closing the VPN connection. Being able to pause helped when Tom kicked over the dice while trying to put them into view :D

Love the Roll 'n' write streams! I'd love to see more of them. I love playing along with you guys. You said "This is the last round" as I was finishing writing mine in and I panicked. I was so close. Everything but one was connected. Didn't plan on the dead ends being negative either. I left seven of those. My two lakes (5 and 7 size) really helped connect everything. Ended up with 62 points (40, 13, 4, 7, -7, 5). This game is as fun as I expected when I saw SU&SD cover it.
@bigguy9789784 жыл бұрын
I got 70 for my first time! 45, 7, 5, 8, -8, 13 I super focused on making all the connections. I had a 2x2 open space for the lake connecting everything, expecting it to fill in by itself but it needed 3 open lake faces to be properly filled. Thankfully you can place lakes anywhere so there is a little triangle island in my lake. My lake almost looks like Australia now
@JacquesSnacques4 жыл бұрын
I had a giant 9 point lake in the corner of my board and a massive 12 point road spanning all across it and it looks really nice, but I only managed to get 7 of the connections and I had 12 whole mistakes, so I ended up getting a 47. Not awful for my first time, I'd say. I enjoyed this a lot; thanks for the VOD!

I finished with a score of 58. 36 for connections, 6 for road, 5 for rail, 8 center, 8 mistakes, 11 lake.

I managed to score myself a cool 55 points. Pretty happy with that. I actually own the physical game, but I hadn't gotten around to playing it yet, so this was nice to play along using my actual, physical board. Thanks for this!

I too hadn't played with my actual game yet mainly because I bought it during the shortage and its in spanish which i did without realising haha. I got 55 as well (40+7+5+9-7+1)

You can increase/decrease the size of the vector pen ink by selecting the pen then hitting the '+' key for a bigger pen or '-' for a smaller pen. Stamps seem the optimal way to play this game though
@hollyching76864 жыл бұрын

Just to give another view: I think TTS works really well, to me it seems lots of Matts problems come from not knowing the controls well enough. erasing the dots when there is a button reset dots

@thebeautifulvideogame13964 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the video! Love the semi interactive part.Couldn't you draw just one lake? That would effectively make it the biggest as well as the smallest. I don't see a required number of lakes to be drawn in my (translated) copy of the rules.
@Egornnn4 жыл бұрын
Cool, I’ve scored 69! 11 exits - 40 Longest road - 9 Longest rail - 7 All middle - 9 Errors - -9 Single lake - 13 But I actually have a physical copy and it was easier than I expected to win🤣

Bit late but Matt scored his networks incorrectly. Overpasses do not connect the two networks, they just pass over one another so should have scored considerably next. Tom won 👍

Did Matt actually use 7 squares in the middle? His lake isn't complete, so do the middle bits technically count as used if they're not enclosed?
@BrentonM4 жыл бұрын
Lakes don't need to be completed and don't count as errors at all so they're good like that. The downside being they can interrupt your roads and rails when trying to get the longest highway or longest railway. The rules also say that, "You score 1 point for each Central Space you drew anything on", so I'd say errors don't matter at all when scoring for that, just that you managed to draw something there.

I love SU&SD generally and have been a fan from early on (miss you Paul); I'm sure being in the Twitch chat was fun, but this video as a play along frankly sucks. My very first thumbs down for SU&SD! I was really looking forward to learning and playing this simple game with Matt and Tom and using this video to introduce the game to my train game loving husband. Matt's teach of the rules was just plain horrible and no amount of cute "I don't remember the rules" made the video funny enough. We watched all the way through anyway- grabbing the rules and reading through them since Matt and Tom didn't care about the "teach" part. I thought the hour plus time was going to mean they play the game twice, but no; it's filled to the brim with banter, struggling with TTS interface, and messing around. Which is fine. I personally found it funny. But it's not even a mediocre teach, and actually learning and playing along was like being taught a "short" game with your most painfully AP prone buddy who can't remember even the basic rules.
@olivierjodoin22833 жыл бұрын
I don't think the focus of SUSD is to teach games. There are other channels where this is the focus.
@markbaker4653 жыл бұрын
You might have been better off watching their review of Railroad Ink first, as I believe that at least gives an overview of the rules. Or just watch a 'how to play' video.
@ericmatthews96733 жыл бұрын
@@markbaker465Sure, I would have been better off just reading the rules out loud to him first too. It's such a light game that it should have been safe to assume SU&SD would include 4 minutes of a teach to start a play along-- since playing along is the point.
