In 2017 the Naugatuck Railroad Company, owned by the Railroad Museum of New England, ran the first passenger train to Torrington, CT after seven years. This was made possible after almost 11,000 railroad ties were installed on the line bringing it up to a better condition fit for both freight and tourist passenger trains. This first train was a Mass Bay Rail Enthusiasts railfan charter over the whole line including the sparingly used northern section from the Thomaston Dam to Torrington, CT. In 2018 more trains were scheduled to operate to and from Torrington including the "Torrington Twilight Express", once again restoring scheduled passenger trains into the city. This video shows the first train in 2017, the "Torrington Twilight Excursion" in 2018, as well as the "Toys for Tots Train", one of the only runs to Torrington during 2020. I was also lucky enough to get permission from the Naugatuck Railroad to mount my GoPro on the locomotive to film the line from Thomaston Station to Torrington Station in 2019. Special thanks to the Naugatuck Railroad and the Railroad Museum of New England for allowing me to film the locomotive ride segment.
