I remember the 765 going past my family's farm in Alliance, Ohio in the 80's. They also used it for a family appreciation day in Cleveland on NS back when Wick Morman ran the company.

One year 765 passed right behind my house on the W&LE on her way to CVSR, got that on video. MANY photos and videos of 765 over the years since she started coming to The Valley. 765 is VERY powerful - one of the FWHS members told me that they had 2 NS diesel locomotives coupled on and the NS crew didn't think 765 was as strong as they were told. Welp the Fort Wayne crew told the NS crew the fully apply the brakes on their diesels; and 765 proceeded to pull them WITH EASE. That is the Lima Locomotive Works "Super Power" concept at work. Railroader's model is based off the L&N's M-1 Berkshire's. I can also confirm that 2 of the whistles you can use on the steam locomotive's are a Nathan 6 Chime & another 6 chime (CofG 6-Chime) that are VERY similar to 765's whistle. I hope lster on down the road they'll add more locomotives, maybe we'll get a Lima berk.

The Atlantic (4-4-2) would have been a follow on to the American (4-4-0) design, primarily used for passenger workings, the trailing wheels would allow for an enlarged firebox over the older American design. Typically larger wheels allow for higher speed, but less traction for heavier freight workings. The moguls (2-6-0) and 10-wheelers (4-6-0) would be seen on mixed traffic - light passenger stopper services, or lighter freight workings. With the moguls giving way to the 10-wheelers, whose longer frames allowed for larger boilers. Their mid-sized wheels favored neither the high speed passenger traffic, nor the super heavy freight trains. The pacifics (4-6-2) were the extension of both the Atlantic and 10-wheelers, giving a longer boiler than the Atlantic, and larger firebox than a 10-wheeler. Big wheels made for efficient high-speed driving. The consolidations (2-8-0) and decapods (2-10-0) were the masters of freight workings, generally smaller wheels than your mixed traffic locomotives, and more wheels equals more traction. Even back in the 1920's you could find these monsters hauling 1000-ton coal trains, and as technology improved over the decades the loads only got heavier. The switchers are generally small wheeled locomotives, not designed for speed or long distance, but generally able to move loads above what a similar sized main traffic locomotive could manage. They will consume water and coal at a very high rate when run at speed, but they would rarely run far from their service point, so endurance was not typically an issue. They're built for agility, low speed acceleration, quick to start up from cold, and working tight yards - like seaports.

a Bit about the railway in Railroader: The historically important Murphy Branch is the westernmost part of what was the Western North Carolina Railroad, later the Richmond and Danville, Southern Railway, the Norfolk Southern Railway (NS) and today the Blue Ridge Southern Railroad. The branch runs between Asheville, North Carolina in the east and Murphy in the west. I-40 from Asheville to Canton and US Route 74, also known as the Great Smoky Mountains Expressway, from Canton to Murphy, roughly parallel the railway. Grades on the Murphy Branch exceed 4.0% in two places.[1] How do i know this? I used to LIVE there for more info google "southern railroad murphy branch" the above was taken from the wiki

@@Vbluguitar not really, the game models the line in the "30's to the '60's, nowadays everything west of Nantahala is ripped up and gone, but the railroad still is operated by Watco, under the call letters BLU and the name Blue Ridge Southern, i think Watco has a website, there should be a current map on the site.

That bigger 10 wheeler has a "deckless" cab. Fairly common on narrow gauge. CNR ran their 2-6-0s all the way into the late 50s on branchline service where weight limits and short trains suited them well.

Atlantic at 2:24 is a 1:1 of the Cotton Belt 4-4-2s.. I was the original modeler for part of the mesh used! They were built in the late teens and these particular engines were notable for their narrow firebox design & short drivers, which made them "Odd Ducks" compared to the 4-6-2s being built at the time

My only problem with the Berkshire is there’s nowhere to turn it around at Sylva. I’m currently only running the Berkshire on the mainline from Sylva to Bryson and back to Sylva. You can turn it around at Bryson at the Y, however you can’t turn it around on a turntable which is quite annoying. I just run it in reverse from Sylva to Bryson and then on the heavy haul back to Sylva she’s facing the right way lol

seems like it would be better to take it from Dillsborough once upgraded (it gets a turn table) to Alarka - haven't been far the other way yet, but at least that way you have the ability to turn at both ends.

It is not currently in game - Since the game JUST came out less than a month ago we don't know much about the future plans for expanding the fleet, but I would imagine that they are planning on expanding the game with more engines. The developer said that they will be posting a timeline roadmap on steam, so I would imagine that the information you are looking for will be posted there.

Do you have to buy each steam locomotive in the game? Does the game have set scenery? Or can you build your own rail?
@Vbluguitar
@Vbluguitar 3 ай бұрын
The track is "set" but you can add things at certain places - for example at dillsborough you can add both a service center with turntable AND a 3 track classification yard. They give you 2 steamers to start, and then you can buy additional engines as your railroad expands. At the beginning you only have 2 or 3 miles, but as you do the "repair the track Milestone" missions, you unlock more rails and more cities to services.

I made a mistake in buying a game that is not complete my base engine won't pull cars from the front but it will push them ok and the controls are messed up inside the train the breaks are applied 100% when there all the way forward but when you use the sliders the train break is released when it's all the way right and the independent break is released when it's all the way left not sure if it's supposed to be this way it should be the same as in the cockpit of the train I'm guessing and then with the anglecocks it tells me to open or close them which is it they say the front and rear anglecock need to be closed when moving so I'm guessing the other ones are fine if there open
@Vbluguitar
@Vbluguitar 4 ай бұрын
Ok, You are making some mistakes lol - 1, You absolutely can pull and push from the front of the train. If you watch my series you can see us doing it a lot. I will have to make a tutorial to help you out - Look for it this week. Don't give up, once you figure out the contorls its a lot of fun. 2. Anglecocks need to be open to allow the air to flow from the engine to the cars, but the ends of the train need their anglecocks closed so the air doesn't escape the system. So if you are coupled to a car, the anglecocks between the engine and car need to be opened. The anglecocks at the front and back of the train need to be closed. I will go over this in the tutorial to help you out.

Another thing you can't detach the tender from the engine they consider both the engine and tender one piece so if the tender gets damaged you have to fix the whole engine with it not very realistic your spending more because of this
@Vbluguitar
@Vbluguitar 4 ай бұрын
This is not necessarily correct. The engine and the tender have seperate damage amounts, so if you bang up your tender, the engine can still be 100 percent. However, you are correct that they are attached so you will still need to go to the repair shed and put both in. This is actually realistic as Tenders where attached to engines with drawbars, and not couplers. They also had a ton of hoses connected between them and it was VERY rare that they would be pulled apart except during heavy servicing.
