Loved the film shot in Hartland where I grew up. I boarded the Hiawatha there for trips to and from Milwaukee. Also loved nearby Pewaukee shots of train going past the frozen lake with ice fishermen. This is a treasure.

I had the same thought with the ice fishing scene. I also like all the platform activity at Oconomowoc. Like the kid on his bike.

I was just about ready to go to bed and I saw this come up on the screen and I felt the time transporter come out. Having grown up in Milwaukee a super thank you. Some of it I remember and really enjoyed the yellow FM Switcher as my Uncle Ray Bliesner 50-year veteran with MILW worked that job on 2nd trick. Some of those angles even brought out buildings I had never seen before. Bless Clint for being out there photographing this stuff and for you for bringing it to the screen I expect good dreams tonight!

WOW ! This is an awesome film. I lived in Dane , Wisconsin in the late 70's and this hit all my old haunts. I hope Clint shot some F Units on the M&P , that was a fine chase back then !! Thanks for sharing this !

The steam locomotive on the flatcar is Lousiana Cypress Lumber Co #2. It went to Mid-Continent Railway Museum in North Freedom, WI. Sold at auction in 2015 to a private owner.

My old stomping grounds late 80’s and early 90’s. Love watching the Wisconsin central railroad then but wished I was around when the Milwaukee railroad operated. Video brings back pleasant memories. Thanks for sharing.

@ 8:12... now this is the coolest part of the vid... i've never seen a coal tender used like that before... and btw, do you know how steam ejector air conditioning works??????... never heard of that... heck to be honest i didn't even know they had a.c. back then
@killerbee6310

Well to be honest I had never heard of it either until I solicited help in identifying what the tender was being used for in the summer

Rolyal American Shows was a carnival that supplied rides for the Wisconsin State Fair. They came into the grounds on the track on the north side, south of I90/94. The 2 Spot was restored and ran steam service at Mid-Continent for years. It was restored again but the owner and MCRM had a fall out and it left. I believe it is now in Oregon.

This is wonderful, Brian! It's neat to see this and it's fantastic that you're taking the time to preserve and publish what Clint originally recorded for us all 60 years ago. I'm betting he couldn't have dreamed then the way these would someday reach thousands of people who could watch them at their convenience in their homes! A great tribute to his work. This may be more effort than it's worth, but have you considered including at the end of the video description text a list of trains and locations (where known)? Even more work admittedly would be to then index that to the time in the video too. I was thinking you might already have such notes for what you do with the narration that could be pasted in though? The point of my suggestion is that then I believe that would make that data searchable via the youtube search box for future reference/research. For example, someone searching for "Milwaukee Road Football Train" might be able to find this video and the clip in it where they otherwise never would. The KZbin automatic "Transcription" feature doesn't seem to be worth a lot for topics like this from what I see. Like I say I have no doubt you have a lot of effort into these productions already, so no worries if the idea adds too much extra. Alternatively it is something where once the video is posted, other volunteers could help compile that data as they watch and send it to you to add to the description too. No matter what these sure are cool to see!
@killerbee6310
@killerbee6310 17 күн бұрын
Thanks for your ideas. At the very end of the video is a shot of the notes. I have just the barest of details to work with - usually just location and train number, if even that. In fact, for this video there were no notes for its second portion. So I am unable to give much more detail than what I already have. Anyway, more to come....

It was several hours worth of movies. He actually had an entire reel (about 400') of a private steam logging operation on Vancouver Island (may have been Mac Blo but not sure) but I chose not to digitize them.
