Widespread rain and snow are back in the forecast for Friday in Northern California. The KCRA 3 weather team is calling Friday an Impact Day because of how wet weather will affect outdoor activities and travel. Rain will last a few hours in the Sacramento Valley but will likely linger longer in the Foothills. Drivers in the Sierra will need to plan for the possibility of long delays on Interstate 80 and Highway 50. Those without four-wheel or all-wheel drive will need tire chains at elevations above 5,000 feet, which means areas around Blue Canyon and Whitmore Road.
