The fast reverse thing is a thing of the past unfortunately. There are still fast reverse guns around. Usually p200s or p100 or pc100 on the end of pivots. Usually I see sr100 or komet twins nut travelers still use the old tech. Not to many places around here can rebuild the old fast reverse ones anymore parts are scarce

Sounds like Ian dumped a lot of rain, hopefully no water/wind damage. We're into a 3 month drought here, it's very dry but can't complain as the weather is sunny and warm every day and above average for October and will continue for at least another couple weeks. Thank you John!

Also i was at the valley dealer again, i took a look at the 205G's they have for sale. One has a ring nozzle similar to what i put in my P150, the pipe connection is a flange to NPT adapter, its cut, so i can take it off and use my flange adapter if i wanted. They want 300 for the guns, theres 2 of them. The one i was looking at has the stops too , If i can get ahold of 300ish dollars i may buy it. I'd say the nozzle is like a .86" or maybe .90" ring, which should still run on my pump. If i can get ahold of some money i may try to run it on my pump and see if it moves and reverses.. it may work just slowly. TBH i didnt know 200 series guns could run on that small of a nozzle, i always thought that the smallest was 1.08"
@photocontrol
@photocontrol 2 жыл бұрын
The price doesn't seem too bad as it has all the stops and seems like it would operate without a rebuild. Nice that it can accept smaller sized nozzles.

As a kid I've always loved the old fast reverse guns. Until I got older I never knew how they worked. They have a reverse spoon/deflector that redirects a powerful water stream. It's crazy how much force they have when reversing. I've heard stories of the 200 guns reversing and snapping pipes that they were mounted on. Crazy!

The T-L dealer has my P200. They're getting the ring nozzle cap off of it so I can put in a smaller nozzle. I also picked up a Rainbird SR gun as well. It's not like yours, but it has some resemblances to a SR100 except the base is what you would see on a 103. It has the 4 brake bolts you can adjust and the drive arm has dual drive spoons, the reverse trip mechanism resembles nelsons SR trip mechanism but it's on the side instead of on the back, it moves the drive arm to hit the spoons at an angle to go forward or reverse. Kinda like a Nelson SR. Anyway the bearings are locked up and it won't rotate. The only thing missing is the stops but I can use 2 vice grips if I wanted, since it's not like what you'd see on a FR gun, it just trips a lever that moves the drive arm. I'll see about getting it out to make a short video of it later today. I need to find someone who can replace the bearing on it to make it operational. Also im not sure of model# as there's no model # anywhere on the gun. The nozzle on it looks like a nozzle that a 103 would take. But this one that came with it is really big. Maybe a .90 or something. I have a few 103s I can take a smaller nozzle out of and put in this one once it's fixed.
@photocontrol

That's an interesting Rain Bird model, I suppose it's an early SR model still resembling the 103. It appears to be a more robust design over the SR3003.

I just took my 103DH to the dealer today and had them remove the cap and nozzle assembly from the gun. They also put anti sieze on both of them and I can now install a smaller nozzle than that .80" next time I run it I will have a smaller nozzle. I just noticed this one really flies back in reverse. Mine is a bit slower but I haven't played with the brake settings on it yet. Also it may be because your running with the low pressure spoons and mine has the high pressure ones on it. Mine was pulled from one of those heinzemen water winch travelers so it may have not spent all it's time on the end of a pivot like this one has. The water winch travelers are really cool. They have a paddle wheel that is driven by 2 nozzles it turns with the water pressure which turns a turbine and then turns the gears which will move the traveler down a field. There cool to see run but I heard they had a lot of issues too. I actually have video of a p200 attached to a water winch traveler too
@photocontrol
@photocontrol Жыл бұрын
That's great they removed it for you, yeah those plastic nozzles can become brittle and break the edges of the fins. Do you have a selection of other smaller nozzles to fit the 103? Anti-seize is your best friend when it comes to all the threaded parts. The water winch sounds interesting.

I was gonna run my 103 yesterday but it rained hard. If my other friend let's me use her pond today I'll run mine. I finally got a bolt on the reverse cam and it's sitting properly so I'm hoping it'll run well. It's adjustable to so well see. You got your brake set right it reverses slow which is less wear and tear on the bearings and brake. My 103DH is the only one I have that actually moves and reverses fine with no issue as far as bearings are concerned. I think it was retired because of the bolt missing to space out the reverse cam

I wish the threads on the nozzle on my 205 weren't stripped I think that's why the arm didn't move because the nozzle isn't sitting right. I could try to put the other nozzle back on though and see what happens but I think my pump may just be too small.

So I'm still trying to find a base flange for my 104C. I also noticed that the drive arm has a slight bearing issue as it moves side to side, but its just so minute, it might be ok. I might have to go to the dealer and check out their other 104's, maybe they have a base flange that will fit on mine. My 104C came with a QC attached to it but its broke. I should just try to find the other piece to it and see if it still fastens securely, or if i can find a base NPT that would be good too. They had quite a few 104C's in the gun trailer, I need to look at them and see what they have attached to them.

Do the thumbscrews on your stops still turn easy? Mine were tight so u have to use a wrench to loosen or tighten them. Now my 205g you can tighten or loosen them with your fingers. All my other guns that have those quick adjust stops are tight so you have to use a wrench to turn them

Well the dealer said 2k$ to rebuild and replace parts on my p200. Also the cast on parts like the reverse cam and base and stuff aren't sourceable anymore. I'd rather just keep looking for a used p200 that maybe has a busted drive arm or deflector. I could just take those off my current p200 and put it on that. I have to wait and see. Also if I find one that just needs a bearing or seals I could at least get those fixed.

I'm thinking of building a pipe system with a 2" female to screw on my stand. Then it starts with 2x3/4" connections for a f44 and a wobbler or rotator then goes to a 2 to 1 1/4" for my p85. Then goes to a 2" male connection at the end for my 103 or pc100. Kinda like a very small pivot. I'm wondering if my pump could handle that.
@photocontrol
@photocontrol Жыл бұрын
There should be no problem, if it seems like the volume/pressure is too great being reduced down to 3/4",1" etc then the pump throttle could be reduced to half and still have enough pressure.

Question. You draw from a pond right ? Have you thought of getting a bigger pump ? Say a PTO pump and engine to drive it ? You'd be able to run a 200 series gun with that. That is my dream to get one for myself and see how well it runs my 205G rainbird. Also I'd like to be able to put the 1.18" ring nozzle back in my p150 and see how much distance it gets with it. One downside is a pto pump and engine can be expensive. More than what u spent for your current one, but you'd have more psi and flow to mess with the bigger guns and your 100b would run beautifully. Whenever I get a house with a pond I'm going to get one myself. I'd have to save up but it'd be worth it. I have a 1.34" taper bore nozzle for a p150 at home I'd like to be able to use but my current pump would just fall on its face with such a big nozzle
@photocontrol

I can draw from a seasonal pond, but it's totally dried up as we're in a 3+ month drought now after the very wet spring. No rain at all yet for October which is unusual as we usually begin the rainy season, I'm not complaining as its sunny and warm every day. I mainly rely on my large above ground pool as a reservoir. I will eventually get a larger 3" pump. I would like to get a PTO pump to run with my tractor some day, but I would probably only invest in one of those if I dug a huge pond or move to a property with a big pond or creek.
@NelsonBigGunP200Fan
@NelsonBigGunP200Fan Жыл бұрын
@@photocontrol I'm sure a PTO pump would drain your pool in minutes. Especially if running a 200 gun. I think 250gpm is the minimum for a 200 to run. You'd get a couple minute video and have to wait longer to refill it. I almost went the route of getting a couple 1000 gallon container and a pump to try to run these guns. Just be a hassle dragging that out every time. The pond I use in these videos is a retention pond. People fish out of it all the time. I'm not sure of the size but I'm sure it could handle maybe 1 or 2 200 guns pulling out of it. We get alot of rain during the irrigation season so I'm sure draining it isn't an issue. Sometimes rains all day hard and that's a lot of water to be putting in one spot. Also behind this is a river that I could use but I just don't want to take my car back there as it's rough terrain. I've been back there but drove very slow so I don't break my car. If an opportunity arose for me to get another i want a truck. Just a decent full size truck with 4wd. Doesn't have to be new either can be used. I could try to find out how big that retention pond is and report back I'd have to do some digging on the internet. But I'm sure I don't even make a dent in it with my current pump. It's fed by rain and the water draining from the parking lot of the shopping center so yeah I know it gets filled frequently. I could get a pto pump but I'd have to get permission to install it back there that property belongs to my close friends so I'd have to ask. Also if I do I'm going to get bigger hoses maybe even hard hose and a gun cart so I don't have to mess with this stand it's a pain to set up and it doesn't handle 200 guns there too heavy.
@photocontrol
@photocontrol Жыл бұрын
@@NelsonBigGunP200Fan Oh yeah it wouldn't take long to drain it lol. I've got a little larger second pool now that was just on sale at the end of the season clearance. I will have a pretty good water reservoir now (5500+ gallons). After a very wet spring, we are having an almost 4 month drought, so extra water for irrigation or in case of a brush fire. It's starting to rain tonight so the drought will be coming to a end soon. The 1000 gallon containers would be nice but agree that it would be a hassle for you to set up. I'm sure that retention pond holds 10's of thousands of gallons, I'm sure you could run a 200 for awhile and not see much of a drop in the water level. A truck would be handy for sure to haul the equipment and drive on rough terrain. That would be nice if you could set up a PTO pump and cart, but that would be a pretty expensive investment.
