I'm impressed with my Lanshan 1 Pro - I don't care what chi-chi DCF offerings there are out there, 690g is still properly Ultralight in my book. Although I'm confident it'll cope with more, it sits in the 'mainly fairweather minimalist' niche for me. Otherwise it's a Scarp 1, nearly double the weight but double the space and protection too! Earplugs? Rain and wind are my favourite bedtime sounds in the tent...

Yep I agree , I have had mine out in all weathers and it holds up no probs . But yeah ideal for 3 season camping . I don’t think I actually put them in ,in the end . Atb Dave

I'm buying my Lanshan pro1 4 season tomorrow. Same situation using the Scarp 1 for hill camping/more severe weather conditions. Looking forward to using the Lanshan as an easily packable option while doing the Wainwrights.

Thanks Andy , yep that was forest of death lol . Something I like about being in a tent being dry and warm with just a thin layer protecting you. Nowt worse than an inner draping inside your tent who designs these . Path is blocked at the end of the forest track, but a quick divert diagonally thru the forest and your there like . The Lanshan 1 Pro did very well, great you had the protection of the rocks also. I had one camp in a Lanshan 1 Pro but I had no protection…I sold the tent after that! I didn’t have any adaptations on the guylines either. I spent the whole night worried about my down bag getting wet (I know you have your tyvec bag too). It works for you and you’ve learnt some more on what it can handle with some dodgy conditions! Nice video Dave 👍
@AndyWardle2 жыл бұрын
Did you seam seal your lanshan?? They look good but take a bit fettling.

Thanks Miriam I have used and adapted to single skin shelters now , Tyvek bivi and a good cloth does the job. However I have had a few damp sleeping bags at the foot box in the past 😂 tfw atb Dave ⛺️👍

@@AndyWardle Hi Andy - yep I sealed it! I probably could have taken more time in finding more ways of making it stable in more breezy conditions but I didn’t have the patience I suppose. It was my first experience with a single skin and I love my Rab sleeping bag a lot so I was a paranoid camper for the night to avoid the walls! I had been using a Hubba Hubba for years before this tent - I ended up selling the Lanshan Pro and bought another 1 person tent for when I want to go lighter. I know the Lanshan Pro works for many - it just wasn’t my cup of tea, that’s all. I wanted to love it - but I didn’t 😊
@AndyWardle2 жыл бұрын
@@MiriamKennedy fair comment that. I’m the same although I like to fiddle. My next outing tomorrow I’m in my pretents soloist which is good quality but it took a bit fettling as per. I added dyneema lines and worked out the pole height. It’s fine now. First time out it was like my aunties knickers 😂 It’s factory sealed so no leaks. I was approached by the lanshan company but turned it down due to the amount of fettling. (I like that word) but after watching a few vids Daves included I’m starting to wish I’d accepted it 😂 just means more tent research needed. 👍
@MiriamKennedy2 жыл бұрын
@@AndyWardle may you have a fettle free night ahead of you with non sagging knickers 🤞 I ended up going with the Sae to Summit Alto TR1 for my lightweight shelter. A little bit fiddly, but for the low weight and small pack size, I’m a happy camper. Possibly not a great profile for strong winds but it has decent head height and porch size and a non saggy inner to date. It’s meeting my needs for now anyway! I’ve the MSR Hubba Hubba and the MSR Access 2 and I love the. both but I wanted to try something lighter also. There will be more tents in the future no doubt - some women collect shoes, I don’t 🙃 Have a great night in your new tent 👍

Aye, need to watch that back and I walk with the smallest backpack I can now, only have the essentials in too. I was up at Simonside a few weeks back and the bugs there were a bloody pain but it was a very still day to be fair. Nice place to pitch, looked nice and sheltered and a nice time-lapse too. Funny I have never thought about ear plugs for camping before but with the noisy of that rain and those gusts I an see hoe you would need them. Good test for the tent mind and seemed to do a fair job too but looked a bit of a miserable walk back, until you got back on the low ground, cheers Alan

Yes I did fix it and re seam sealed , I never had any more issues but I would check the corners and any stress points for poor stitching . There is quite the community out and about in the forest, I see a couple of bikers and walkers every time I am out there. There is also a couple of horse riders, who have cleared a couple of tracks, unfortunately there are still quite a lot of tracks uncleared, the forestry commission seem to have done the bare minimum, just clearing the biggest tracks. Also I hear plenty of cuckoo in most of the south kielder forests, maybe all the harvesting will mean more wildlife

Hello hambler, how do you compare this tent with your duomid + inner? Does the lanshan 1 pro do the job in bad weather? Is there enough good livable space in the lanshan when you get a rainy day? Or is the duomid better for sitting inside and waiting for the rain to go?
