Gorges State Park is a relatively new park that opened in 2009 within the Blue Ridge Escarpment and near the point at which North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia meet. The park is home to plunging waterfalls, rugged river gorges, and sheer rock precipices. It spans over 8,000 acres of temperate rainforest and features 26 waterfalls. Our Rainbow Falls Trail ventures alongside Horsepasture River and is the most popular trek in the park. It takes hikers just outside the park to Pisgah National Forest where they can find the namesake Rainbow Falls, a majestic 150-foot waterfall that is among the most impressive in the entire state.
