The large "balls" of thin crochet thread are/were primarily used with tiny hooks to crochet very detailed edgings on pillow slips, and dresser scarves. They were also used to make magnificent "doilies" of different sizes--some were even used for central focal points on dining tables. My Grandmother and Great-Grandmother (my Dad's side of family) did lots and lots of this beautiful work.

These are really cute. Crochet thread is for making doilies, table toppers and sometimes they will make a bed covers with it.

Those trees are adorable. And as to the large balls of crochet thread I used to use those to make dollies when I was younger and some potpourri boxes or sachet boxes

Adorable. So glad you showed this as just bought a snowman that I can stitch and make an ornament and didn't know how to do the blanket stitch. Thanks, once again, Nichol.

10/5/24 - Nichol, your link is working. Sorry for my first msg. I finally found the wool under embellishment. TE search did not respond to the 100% wool felt or just wool. It works and I apologize for the miss-information as TE is new to me. I'll check out your other felt Utubes to find where to find cutting dies for wool products. Back in the day, my mother and I hand cut and sewed wool items for Christmas presents for family and friends. So glad I found you and your felting classes. Hoping you family and friends are holding up under the disasters that has come their way. Best wishes to you and your family.

Oh my goodness Nichol! This video is stirring up all my stitching memories that I used to do! I consider myself a card maker now! But this makes me want to get back into stitching that I don’t really know why I quit. I made all 5 of my kids cross stitched heirloom large Christmas stockings and all my children and grandchildren quiet books and lots of other projects too. I love felt pieces and want to do this project. You are just so inspiring! Where do you find the time to do all that you do! Kudos to you! Love your enthusiasm for every craft you do! And thank you so much for sharing them all with us! So kind of you!

These are super cute! I really needed to watch this to help me get started on my felt ornaments. Btw, Buttons Galore is literally the next town over from me, only 5 min away! I drove there thinking it was a shop-in store but it's not... I got some funny looks when I walked in the door! Haha! 😂 Thank you for this video!! I have stocking dies that I'm hesitant to start on so this is just what I needed!

I’m falling in love with felt! These trees are adorable, maybe when my arm heals I will dive back into felt. It’s just looks like so much fun in conjunction with a die cut machine. I’ve done crafts with felt in the past and they give an old fashioned and vintage vibe but the new colors available now are refreshing and beautiful! I have tons of crochet thread. It comes in multiple thicknesses but I actually used it in amigurumi, which is the making of animals or figures. It has lots of other uses tho. I love seeing you trying all the things! Crafting is so very addicting. I used to do a lot of crochet and my yarn collection actually looks like I could open my own store. 😉 this is the downside of loving all things crafty. Sorry, not sorry! 🤪 Hugs and blessings.

This is darling Nichol. I had no idea until recently that you are not only my favorite inspiration for card making, but now you want to enable me stitching too? 🤣 my husband might have words. 🤣 worse habits, right? Will have to order a piece of wool from T.E. I am a wool addict. Penny stitching. Is my favorite. Stacey west is my crack for quilting and wool work. Love it all. QA... why do you need a new foil plate for spellbinders? Did you break it. Oh, that would suck. Also, is the new machine really better? Debating if I need it from Santa or not. Lol along with copic refills. 😁 Tfs. Pea Tfs

I've been looking forward to this video since your last Flosstube ♡ Such a cute make! I'm looking forward to making some of these for my craft space. Hobby Lobby does have sample pack (for lack of a better term) on the bottom shelf of the thread end cap. It may be a choice for someone who doesn't wish to have large spools. Tfs!

I used a needle from Hobby Lobby and I don't have the packaging anymore. They have a slightly bigger eye on them and were super sharp. I *think* they were a size 20 Tapestry Needle.
