Rainbow, while more sci-fi in regards to like gadgetry and equipment, is still gritty and realistic as it pertains to theme. The Rainbow Six Franchises identity, and other Tom Clancy works, were always meant to tackle like real world political issues, not necessarily to be niche, mil-sim kind of media. It is like ubisoft wasn't sure if the players would like they type of game and coop focused storyline (cough ghost recon future soldier and assassins creed unity) and decided to introduce the concept, then at the end, show a little teaser of the campaign they plan on making. If players don't like it not too bad. If the players do like it it's a plus for them. All in all Siege feels like a experiment. A good kind of an experiment by Ubisoft and hopefully they'll develop a sequel with a full storyline WITH the characters we have been introduced to (see the operators) and the gameplay from siege which has been improved on.

It's definitely the right Tom. Tom Clancy is the writer of the Rainbow Six book series that started the video games. Hes also the creator of series of Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, HAWX. Rainbow Six is the spec ops organization in all of the games that I just mentioned and are mentioned in all of the books and you're definitely mistaking it when it says "Tom Clancys Rainbow Six" as him being in the real universe.

Yes and No. Tom Clancy cofounded red storm entertainment which is a ubisoft subsidiary now, and was involved in Rainbow Six, Ghost recon, and was involved with alot of the older games. But splinter cell and Hawx he definitely had no involvement in. Eventually ubisoft bought the rights to use his name in every "tactical" game at 2008.

Sneakz z Ik this is old but the in the Universe Tom Clancy, the counter terrorists eventually fail as the terrorist get funded by Russia which then cover it up to look like it was Europe, WW3 breaks out with the US, Russia and a United Europe which would probably force Team Rainbow to shut down as i think the operators would be forced to go back to their respective countries, i think this game is close to the starting point of WW3 as you can even see the Terrorists use Russian weaponry and are fairly advanced along with attacking around the world which is also in lore, regarding to The Division, the game takes place right after WW3 had started which is why the military and Government were not prepared for the outbreak, Ghost Recon teams operate under JTF which are just USA special ops, Splinter Cell program is able to tell America that the terrorists were funded by Russia and not Europe but due to tensions there are no peace to team up against Russia, HAWX i think is disbanded or works under United Europe or America. What I want to know is what moron at Ubisoft decided it was a brilliant idea to remove all of the story and lore of R6S by removing both the story mode and T-Hunt. They were absolutely fantastic in my opinion especially since they replaced it with a bland remake of the multiplayer (Quick-play) with terribly boring bots that basically just run around and shoot alongside what seems to be a remake of T-Hunt without any of the interesting parts as all the enemies are literal target dummies that stand still and shoot you with no accuracy whatsoever.

We could've had something great but for anyone wanting a gritty game i suggest Ready or Not it's a dark gritty PVE game that puts you in the shoes of a swat team sent to take down street criminals, terrorist, peds, and some maniacs living in a forest, having real police officers and swat members help them make the game right and realistic as they can it's currently in early access on steam and has it's own modding platform.

There’s also SWAT 4, but that’s older than Ready or Not. I remember that it has a mission where you have to take down a serial killer and one where you can find out that members of a local cult murdered their own children. You don’t see any bodies, but you do see graves.

The difference this mission had then any other match or game we had in rainbow six is that it gave us a reason to fulfil a mission, we saw the damage those terrorist were doing, we saw what they could unleash if they kept going. Allowing us to interfere with their plans gave us that motivation, when we finally finish the mission and see the results, the devastation, we do accept it. But we are also proud and grateful of our work, as we see those police officers, students and injured victim still alive because of our work. This is by far the only mission in rainbow six that gives us a value of reason and determination.

God the level of detail in these two cutscenes alone is fucking outstanding Example being at around 2:48 - 3:12 you can see the fabric of the unknown operator gear at first resisting the water but then slowly absorbing it until he’s completely drenched God I fucking hate that they had the opportunity to create such an amazing story experience and just kinda pushed it to the side

+Thexhiv Considering who Team Rainbow recruits from and the time it takes to train those people to be of that caliber, it doesn't feel realistic although I agree it would be a nice little touch. Another way to do this would be to have Team Rainbow intervene in a "The Division" scenario where the White Masks have an entire city quarantined for several months and later recruit a few veteran survivors (exceptional badasses that went above and beyond the call of duty to keep not only themselves safe but many others as well) into their member pool.
