No vacuum cleaner picks up on the first couple of passes on carpet, that's why you do a thorough vacuuming over the area of 4 or more passes. This is just good practice. Sebo, Miele, Lindhaus and even Wessel Werk all need multiple passes and none of them fit Occam's Razor like Rexair's nozzles or Eureka's Sweep 'N' Groom. Yes, you can replace the brush rolls on a Sebo but you don't replace both bearings at that time leaving a worn one inside the machine and requires quite a bit of disassembly to replace it. Wessel Werk had the wise idea of making servicing its nozzle somewhat a pain to replace components like the motor or brushroll as you have to carefully disassemble it as well. Lindhaus...just seems expensive for what it is and has similar issues to the other two. I like my Wessel power heads but they really should be user serviceable. All three power nozzles claim to have a "lifetime belt" but I call that into question as well as belts need replacing at some point. I do like my PN12 nozzle though, even if it is the first version with the centre flat belt. Granted, the nozzle opening is narrow but the side brushes do agitate the rug, how well is a good question.

I'm still going along with my 2006 gold 2 speed (with insulation) we're approaching 19 years old... still looks new because I take care of it...but it is amazing how LONG you can make the HEPA filter last on these... YEARS if you keep the water changed and separator cleaned.....and for good I give the seals a quick wipe before storing...My house isn't a super dirty environment... but I've still used my Rainbow for qiute a few dirty jobs... so it's not like it's only seen minor dirt....

Thank you for this! I'm shopping for a Rainbow and was debating on getting the new SRX or getting a factory refurbished E2 Black, but now my mind is made up! Thank you!

E2 still better. You will be happy with it

I agree after hearing all the awful feedback on the SRX. I had the original E-series from 2001-07 and regretted the day i ever traded it for a kirby. I cant wait to try out the new E2 Black with the new brushless motor and upgrades!! :D@@nmvac82

Will Srx powerhead will fit to e2 black ?

I have another question about the new powerhead for the SRX.....have you tried it on berber? I have 2 levels of berber (the house had it when we bought it). When we first moved in I was using my upright Dyson & that powerhead was far too aggressive & actually ripped strips out. So now I've had the SRX with it's original powerhead, which is not too aggressive & hasn't damaged my berber. But I'm seeing these improvements that the latest powerhead has & I'm considering buying one. I'm just curious about it's performance on berber so if you have experience with it (the new powerhead) on berber, I'd really appreciate your feedback.

I bought an SRX in 2020 so it has the 1st gen SRX powerhead. Is the new one compatible? I can’t see why not….

Make up your mind. You criticized rainbow so much. Now it is a great machine? Always has been a great machine. Any brand does mistakes. Rexair paid attention to feedback and improved it for costumers.

He never said the srx was a great machine. Overall it’s still crap and the previous model (e2 black) is superior in every way. He was only showing what a terrible job the original srx power head did on bare floors. Cause it sat too high off the floor and had the belt severely blocking the airflow path. And that the airflow path itself was also very narrow. The fact remains that the srx model is an inferior machine, and has proven to be nothing but problematic and offer sub par results.

@@garrettdodson6110 It may not have as much suction but suction isn't required most of the time with vacuum cleaners or residential carpet washers. It does, however, have good airflow. it's about 20 CFM more than the Black, thus about 30% improvement. That said, I am a bit disappointed in the design of the SRX in the fact that it isn't a twin stage vacuum motor, the water basin went down in capacity from 2.5 qt standard to the D4's 2 qt. and without the ability of having a larger capacity like previous machines. There are some advantages of the SRX over previous versions though like the ease of use has increased with the slide in basin, the hose latch design and the HEPA upgrade as well as the option of running it on four speeds instead of two with the E2 two speed models. People who own and use the SRX do like it though, so with the few hiccups since introduction, it seems to be an okay machine regardless. It may be interesting to see what Rexair may have as a successor down the road.
