You’ve stumbled upon one of the greatest songs ever, and the singer Ronnie James Dio is widely considered to be the greatest metal vocalist of all time. You should check out Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath when RJD took over for Ozzy Osbourne. Another great Rainbow tune is Gates of Babylon.
@josephbarr16593 жыл бұрын
As a metal fan, I agree. Dio is the greatest Metal vocalist of all time. So glad you mentioned my all-time favorite band, Black Sabbath. The 3 studio albums with Dio (Heaven & Hell, Mob Rules, and Dehumanizer) created some of the greatest Sabbath tracks ever, and gave us many of Tony Iommi's greatest riffs and solos. The average metal fan commonly overlooks Dio-Sabbath, and even to this day, Ozzy-Sabbath remains more popular with the masses. But for the hardcore Sabbath enthusiasts, we appreciate the riffs on songs like "Country Girl", "Falling Off the Edge of the World", "Die Young", and "Master of Insanity", as well as the intricate & blazing solos in songs like "Wishing Well", "Lonely Is the Word", "Over and Over", and "Too Late". Dio brought out the BEST in Tony Iommi.

"Stargazer" is generally recognized as one of the TOP 5 Metal Songs of All-Time! Cozy Powell killing it on the drums, Don Airey's classic keys, and, hey, isn't that Roger Glover over there on bass? Ritchie Blackmore, OF COURSE. Ronnie James Dio, OF COURSE. So perfect!

Roger Glover was still on DP when 'Rising' was released (1976), and Don Airey also joined later. By this time it was Jimmy Bain (bass) and Tony Carey (keyboards) after Dio's Elf bandmates got fired... of course these two didn't last long either...

We are all blessed to be able to experience such talent and artistry. It doesn't matter these songs fall into such and such a genre or style of music. Life is short. We are all just lucky to be able to experience it. And make no mistake - rock music is as legitmate a form of music as any classical or jazz form. in this case, with just 5 musicians, the song is as evocatiove and emotionally challening as any clasical piece. And the musical talents of the performers are the equal of any. The band is tight and focussed, every perfomer contribting to the overall sound. Ronnie James's talents are the equal of any singer while Ritchie's prowess on the guitar is now the stuff of legend. Like I said - we are all just so lucky to be able to live and experience such wonderous musical talent and expression. Long live rock and roll.

Nothing else I've heard even comes close to what Dio, Blackmoore and Rainbow stirred in my soul. This is a very special performance, and it's as good as it is possible to get. I pretty much had a mystical experience when I first listened to it. That's no exaggeration either! What you have discovered is the compositional strength of Blackmore, composed by Blackmore on the cello you hear the bombastic Strum and Drang of this style of Wagner composition and then there is the Blackmore Snake Charmer scale - "Blackmore was the first rock player to make extensive use of Aeolian minor, throwing in Middle Eastern flavored licks from what has become known as Blackmore's snake-charmer scale (a variation of the Hungarian Minor)."
