It is a great solo indeed. I’d say there are different categories of best solos, this is in the melodic category for me and definitley top 3.

Yes, on the B string, think the other 2 following chords different as well in pre chorus, but never quite worked out what

Good stuff, you nailed it. More of the upstroke I see. Did Blackmore alternate with the fingers and pick also? Any other influences other than Blackmore? I''m trying to steer you into other artists you may not have ever heard, but are known.

It can be seen on live videos that he puts the pick between his fingers and pick with the fingertips but not sure if he did that in Stone Cold. I guess the big 3 other than Blackmore who had influence on my playing is Clapton, Gilmour and SRV. But I am into very different styles and players nowadays like Brent Mason, Redd Volkaert and Greg Koch.

Clapton, really...just my opinion, but I think he's overrated. Layla caught my ear and like Cocaine, I Can't Stand It, but my favorite from him is No Alibis. If you like SRV, you must like Hendrix. I like blues licks in metal, like Ratt's Giving Yourself Away, Faster Pussycat's House Of Pain. Also Cinderella and Poison have blues influences. The artist I was going to recommend was The Storm. If you can find anything useful in their songs I've Got A Lot To Learn About Love and Don't Give Up. To be honest, I don't know any of the names, you mentioned so I sampled them on KZbin. Not my cup of tea. I'll stick with Jeff Healey and 38 Special.@@DogwithtwoBones
