Last summer I went to the gorge and couldn’t find any good Mac’s or schools of Koke so we trolled around kingfisher and caught a metric shload of decent little rainbows. Couldn’t even reel them in fast enough, had every pole bouncing nonstop, had a blast. Wish I could get out there more!

Ok quick question for you… if you had to choose like normal people… would you pick the pontoon boat or your boat from this video (weldcraft??). I’m split between the two but never been in either one.

That is a hard one, as there are pro's and con's to both. Pontoon boat: Still very reasonably priced Way more room than a v nosed boat of same size. Uses less fuel because they normally have smaller motor. Easier to fish from than another boat of the same size. Con's: slower for sure, unless you buy one with twin 300 hp behind it then you have to spend more on fuel. Aluminum boat: Faster Normally have more shelter on the boat such as shade, a place to warm up, protected from waves splashing over your boat. Con's: burns more fuel Boat costs more Have to go a little bigger to fish more people comfortably I will be purchasing another boat in the next couple years and I have been back and fourth. However, if I had to make the decision today I would go 2-4 feet longer and stay with a pontoon boat.

@@LakeShoreTackle08 good info! I saw you out there on Wednesday and I thought about that. My biggest question with the pontoon boat is how it handles in the wind / big waves. Im in that little side console tracker and I need to just stay home if it is supposed to be windy because I cant take on the big waves. That is what I always thought the big c-nose boat you have would kick butt, that and being able to get out there in colder weather and get out of the wind to warm up but Im sure you can also do the covering with the pontoon… just dont know about the waves / wind.

I fish off a 22’ pontoon with a 150 hp outboard and will hit 30 mph, so pretty decent but not going to win a race. But my wife can lounge on the couch with a good book while I fish and we put the Bimini up when it’s hot and it’s like boating in your living room. So comfortable and roomy and very stable. When it’s hot, we pull out the pylon and the kids tube or ski behind it. Super versatile. Wind does effect it a little more but not that bad in my opinion, I have no problem managing it where I want to go. Also, it handles big waves easily. I had it on Powell in a big wind storm and had no worries at all. I grew up on a v hull and would pick a toon every time now for several reasons.

Its bullsh*t that you deleted my comment. When you squeeze the fish when is makes that noise, the fish will die. Classy move, admit when you are unethical dont add to it

I didn't delete any comments. If you truly believe this, then most all anglers are unethical. I have seen scientific data on trout specifically that catch & release mortality trolling is between 11-18% depending on if bait/scent is used. I haven't seen any data on whether the fish burps air or not. There are guides that squeeze the air out of Lake trout before they release them. If you can show data on your comment specifically I would be happy to look at it.
