This is a really good scene. The ominous music counterpointing with the meaningless chatter in the background. The building pressure that Jake and Trudy are both feeling. It really adds depth and dimension to Jake's change of heart.

I hate to be that guy but neither of them are soldiers Jake is a marine and most marines would probably punch you for referring to them as soldiers And Trudy is a civilian contractor who may or may not have been in the airforce which would make her an airman

I've been watching a lot of these deleted scenes and a lot of things make sense now. Also notice a lot of things I didn't in the movie. For instance, I know the navi people had four fingers but I just noticed that Jake Sully's avatar body has five fingers like humans. And Trudy and Norm we're actually a couple which makes Trudy's death really tragic. She was the only one in the army that was on the avatars side she fought for the people. Before she died she actually said "Norm, I love you" but we obviously didn't get to experience that in the movie. Another interesting thing I like is I understand why Neytiri really hated humans - while in Grace's school her sister was killed by soldiers. I honestly love all these details I wish they put it in the movie even if it made it 3 hours long. I recommend you to watch all deleted scenes and the movie will make a lot more sense and a lot more interesting. Can't wait for Avatar 2 💙💙

Trudy loves both norm and jake and her sacrifice meant for everyone on her team not just for 1 but all 5 on the team. The line was never filmed but in filming script. PLUS her line sorry Jake is closer to her relationship with Him rather than norm and also for whole team.

I'm surprised that Cameron never tried to release an extended edition, like they did with LotR. I suppose doing so for such a CGI heavy movie would be a lot of effort to render all of the extra scenes just for an extended cut release, whereas LotR just had to re-edit with no (or at least not much) CGI rendering needed. Maybe they will though a few years after Avatar 4 comes out. Easy way to cash in again for the studio so wouldn't surpirse me if they go for it

I feel that Tom would have inadvertently screwed up the mission and unpruposely let the Navi get killed yet Jake became their leader and they win and won, and that's all that matters in the end!.

I like to think it would be like in the movie Atlantis. Just like Milo Thatch, Tom wasn't built to be a warrior, yet he had enough knowledge and appreciation for the local native culture. He could have done something for the Na'vi, maybe not grating the victory or at least not in the way Jake did, but he could have helped them nonetheless.

TV shows weren’t as big a thing in the late 2000s as they are now. Binge watching was in its infancy because Netflix was in its infancy, plus he’d never have the budget to do what he did with Avatar in a TV show. I would argue many series’ exacerbate stories too much and would’ve been the wrong medium for something like this.
