In this Episode we fish a secret river where the main target was big browns. We ended up fishing behind some other fishermen, and for some reason the rainbows came out to feed quick while the browns stayed in shelter. It is a short episode, but we hope you enjoy it! #flyfishing #dryfly #trout #newzealand #rainbowtrout #riverfishing #fluefiske #flugfiske

Best dry fly takes I have ever seen! You are even able to diagnose what went wrong if they don't hook up by replaying the video. I've watched several of your vidoes and they are all excellent.

Thank you for coming to NZ, enjoying the scenery, fishing and our country, and leaving only footprints. Your enthusiasm, fishing skills and and photography is top notch. Some of those trout have been fantastic, well done.

Very enjoyable. Good job. My experience is that it a fly is too buoyant sometimes it wont set, perhaps because it doesn't get sucked down far enough. Sometimes if the tippet is too straight or too thick this will impede the fly going down and the fly won't set. If the fish is facing you often any fly will fail to set. Sometimes fish just miss the fly. This is seen in some slow-mo shots of fly fishing. Sometimes fish just miss the naturals too. This is also confirmed in slow-mo shots. The eyes of large trout are well apart and at some point they must move from seeing the fly with two eyes to seeing it with one, perhaps even non. Sometimes a pressure wave in front of a trout's head as it opens its mouth can move the fly out of the way of the closing mouth. All ways I have missed fish over the years!

Appreciate your comment! I fully agree with you! Just like you say it can be a lot off different reasons why the fly does not end up inside the mouth of the fish. And even if it does, there is a million of ways the fly can sneak out of the fish’s mouth without getting stuck. Such an interesting topic tho!

How long leaders do you use? How do you taper them down, and what is the diameter of the tippet? You still have the best flyfishingvideos om KZbin! I am looking forward to new episodes.👍🎣

Sorry we noticed this comment a bit late! If you watch the episode 12 that we will publish later today Vebjorn explains it there. It’s 9’ tapered leader (mono) 4x. Then we add like 1-1,5m of 4x tippet to that. Either mono or flour carbon, doesn’t matter. But the tapered leader is good to have in mono because it straightens better out and float marginally better!

I always forget how beautiful rainbows can be in the wild. All those stocked fish in Europe are so ugly. Awesome episode. I actually didn't mind it was short. Awesome job.

You really 'disturb' my sleep and I think not only mine. Sincere congratulations. I understand this is your first time in NZ and that makes your results even more amazing. I would have many questions to ask you so I would like to email you. In the meantime can you tell me what camera you use and what optics. Thanks

Thanks a lot for the nice compliments! It happens to us too! I often see shadows of trouts when I close my eyes at night. The camera is a lumix gh6 with a 100-300mm lens for the close up slow motion takes. The lens is a lumix g-vario
