For anyone wondering, those gloves are called “glass gripper 3/4 dipped”. We use them at work. Buy them at safety supply places for about $2 per pair when you buy 100 pairs. Also good for gardening at home

Nice video and here’s my thoughts on sniping gear. First of all, I do my sniping in cold conditions and use a tailor made 1 piece drysuit including boots with an undersuit and isolation socks to protect me from the cold. I also use neoprene gloves minimal 5 mm and I put aquasure on all the seams and fingertips. I prefer multiple layers and it will take a while, but I can use my gloves many times and I just repeat the process of putting aquasure on the spots where it weares out. I use tight gloves in the winter and usually new ones with aquasure to stay warm. I also bring a thermobottle with boiling hot water to rinse the inside of my gloves and neoprene hood to make them warm before my dive in. And repeat the process after about 45 minutes. It works great especially when you have new gloves without any holes in them. I use heavy duty beaver kneepads and they are lightweight and I use them many times over before they wear out. To carry a minimum of tools, snacks and drinks, I usually bring a drybag/backpack and I use old pieces of neoprene to cover the sharp and pointy tips to prevent it piercing trough my bag. I find it very handy to just bring a survival straw to drink safely from the river. I am now sniping for over a decade and find it very relaxing. The Nikon coolpix underwater camera is my camera of choice. Hope this helps and keep up the good work. Greetings from The Netherlands

MadDutchman wow mate that’s insanely good info thanks for that yes we have a product called sykaflex I was considering for the glove tips and knees. Most here in Tassie where a drysuit in winter I will probably upgrade at some point when I can afford I’ll being trying similar knee pads aswell a few people have mentioned them now. Thanks for the advice appreciate it and thanks for watching 👍🏼

MadDutchman, thanks for sharing these extremely useful insights from your experience. I have found this very useful. Please can you advise, what things should I look for in dry suite for sniping purpose please ? Thanks
@emielheeneman3 жыл бұрын
@@1000000trs glad you found it useful. The thing to look for is a drysuit that fulfills all requirements such as durability, a zipper in the front or at the back, with or without boots attached or just neoprene socks and seperate boots. Is it large/wide enough to fit an isolation undersuit incl. thermo socks and still be able to work comfortably underwater. Will you be sniping in warm temperatures or also in cold seasons. Ofcourse having deep pockets helps. Also once you have a nice comfortable drysuit keep your bodyweight under control as by gaining weight, the wrist and neckseals can get uncomfortable. What country are you located? I might be able to show you some directions where to buy
@1000000trs3 жыл бұрын
@@emielheeneman Thanks MD. I'm located in UK. I have about 10 to 12 weeks in the summer when the river water is 17c (61F) or higher when I am comfortable in a 7mm wet suite _(I am sensitive to the cold). I need a warmer solution to extend my sniping season to late spring and early autumn, when the river temperature is typically around 13c (which to me feels very cold in my 7mm wetsuit - I start shivering very soon). I will Not be sniping in winter because the river water level is too high. A drysuit idea sounds like it might solve my problem. Though I have never used a dry suite before. I'm curious : is it complicated such as do I need to fill it with air? will it rip or puncture easily on rocks or nearby tree branches?

Awesome show mate, any advice on which part of the river concentrates the gold? Obv on bedrock like you've shown but like inside bends (leading or trailing edge) or rapids? I have a brother-in-law on the ringarooma river, reckon it's worth a shot next time we cross the strait? Thanks for the vids & close-up pics bro 👍
@officialtassieboysprospecting4 жыл бұрын
Bro Foxx hey mate yes of coarse there’s lots I could have said like inside bends I’ve found in large rivers if there’s a large straight after the inside bend the gold deposits all the way down that side of the river. Also lot of people try get in centre of the river but from my experience gold is trapped closer to the banks due to the bedrock being coarser the centre of the river bedrock is a lot smoother from being worn by the passing rocks and gold just slips away the edges however expose new bedrock which is coarse great trap for gold 👍🏼 Ringarooma worth a shot I believe any large river will hold some sort of gold but it’s patchy it’s just a matter of trying 👍🏼 thanks for tuning in mate

Do you ever have to worry about losing gold out of your homemade snuffer bottle when you squeeze it trying to suck up another piece?
@officialtassieboysprospecting4 жыл бұрын
revenevan11 no I forgot to mention that in the video the brass tube runs into the bottle about 100mm so when it’s tipped up the gold captures in the top of bottle without escaping in saying that it has happened once but only once in many days of work 👍🏼 thanks for watching mate

How are you able to see wheater it is gold or just a yellow little stone or something else? And do you think it would be possible to sniping gold in switzerland? I really apreciate your videos🤝🏼🤝🏼. Greetings from switzerland :)
@officialtassieboysprospecting3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, underwater the gold stands out extremely well from anything else it’s very easy to distinguish the difference. I’m not to sure about Switzerland but if you have some nice rivers that have alluvial gravels that run over the bedrock of the river it would be worth having a go scratching out the crevices. You only really need a screwdriver and mask and snorkel to get started so could be a fun addition to a nice swim on a summers day. If you have a go I wish you luck 👍🏼

Never felt your voice was boring. I have watched gold prospectors that get annoying with their presentation. Don't change. A suggestion for those knees might be a set of roofers knee pads. Thick knee padding with hard plastic knee covers.

If you have any old wet suits laying about you could cut a section off the leg or arm as use this as a sacrificial piece for your knees.

Michael Bishop yeh mate that’s what I’ve been doing however last trip I did was a new river and I covered 5kms by the end of the day the skin was worn on the back of my leg from it rubbing 😂 can’t win I’m gona try another wetsuit and try a good layer of sykaflex or something like that over knees
