I am glad that most mechanics are this way. In the 90s, my dad was a mechanic at a Ford dealer, but our family cars always needed repair work. He kept telling me he did customers' cars first because he needed to make a living, and after working on other people's cars all day, the last thing he wanted to do at home was more work on cars.

I agree. Have you been able to work on cars before? I used to back in the day but now that I moved I no longer have the tools. There are some great models that you could get and build. My first was a clear chevy 350 engine. It showed the internal parts and how things move. You might find building such models educational and satisfying. 😊 Take it easy, and have a great morning.

I think I was changing the intake manifold maybe, and I mixed oil and water... IDR it was 20 years ago. Have you built any type of model recently? There is a bad ass gas engine that is so damn detailed! Donut was building it. The toys kids have now are wild. I would like an RC plane or a sub with a cam for live footage then and this would be ideal, hook it up to a VR headset so I could get the pov from the plane or sub as if I am behind the controls. Could you imagine flying around your neighbourhood with an RC and your view is just like a real plane? That would be dope. Lastly, have you seen the chemistry sets for adults. Everyone make the joke it would just be a dru9 lab but whatever. I would like to refine precious metals after I gain the full understanding how to do so. Let that pay for the other toys. What hobbies or interests are you into or would like to get into?

tip for the day ;) if you move the brake pedal down some, using a piece of wood or tool for this between the brake pedal and the driver's seat, it will prevent brake fluid leaking from Caliper

@@clbcl5 To be fair, some people do not know to bleed the excess air from their tires when summer temperatures arrive. Tire pressure sensors report low pressure but I've yet to see one report high pressure. The tires on my truck are supposed to be inflated to 39 lbs. When there is a sudden temperature drop, properly inflated tires will read 39 lbs. in the evening when the temperature is in the 70's but read only 32 to 33 lbs. the next morning when the temperature is below freezing. Obviously, if the cold weather will persist, then the tires need air added to bring the pressure up to 39 lbs. However, when the temperature rises this "correct" 39 lbs. pressure at low temperatures will increase to nearly 50 lbs. The is an actual need to have tires adjusted to "summer air" pressures for ride stability and to prevent excess tire wear.

Living on the East Coast of Canada, when I change from my winter tires to my all season, I remove my brake slide pins to clean and regrease them to make sure no rust gets in there. I also do some under coating as needed to keep good rust control. Love your videos and have picked up a lot of tips on what to look for.

I used dry cleaner coat hanger wire for a long time, but when I tried the newfangled S hooks, well, they're really good! Hard to put my finger on it. They seem to stay put? Quick and easy to use? $10.99 I don't regret spending at all.

i retired from being a automotive mechanic & restorer last June 2022. i can truthfully say that after all these years, i have never had to do any work to any dually pickup trucks, of course i live in a area that no one needs a dually, so it is interesting to see how a dually's rear end comes apart. From a grinding brake (ignored warning) to 4 wheel full brakes including calipers and hoses and front axle shafts and rear bearings. That's why our stuff gets done last,you already know if you're in there might as well do it all. Hint-easy way to remove bearing races is to weld a bead around the inside face of the race,destroys heat treatment of race and knocks out much easier.

When I was growing in the 60's & 70's the mechanics cars always needed work! In 69 I was 10 and asked a mechanic why? He said you don't get paid for working on your own car. It breaks then fix it ! In a way your lucky doing front bearings on a 1 ton bigger spindles more room. Yesterday I replaced the originals on my Taho with 190k miles caliper had to come apart to get the stuck pad housing and the wheel bearing bolts you couldn't get an impact on cuz of the boot . Broke my first ever Craftsman 6 point 15 mm! That spacer is wild!

Ray, I also do a lot of towing with my 3500 dually, and I also had same issue with heat cracks on my rotors. it led me to check the brakes on my trailer to which I discovered an electrical issue with my trailer brakes. so when hauling 15k and brakes intermittently disconnecting, it didn't take too long to have to do a full brake job on my daily. Love your content, good to see you on your own. keep it up.

I am so glad to see you doing so well in your own shop. Congrats 👏 👏 I do really want to see the Jeep worked on. I have an '02 WJ 4.7L Laredo with Selec-Trac. My list of repairs to do are: • Drag link adjusting sleeve • Center link adjusting sleeve • tie rod ends. • track bar bushings replacement Oo • sway bar links (proprietary bolts in rear bottom that are rusted in) • sway bar bushings (rusted frozen bolts) • sand and clean sway bars and brackets. • rear inside axel seal and hushing leak. • possible brake leak but not visible in wheels or pistons. • master cylinder might be leaking into power brakw booster, im getting a fluid syringe woth hose to test for fluid. • might replace master cylinder and brake booster for $120 new. • rusted hard brake lines and sofe brake hoses. I wanna use NiCopp hard lines or Cunifer brake lines and double flare them myself. The hoses i want to have Red PVC insulation and stainless steel lines woth flexible coils by Power Stop think they are $140. • lower control arms and front uppers and rear upper A-arm with ball joint (Moog) • windows dont roll down in front, think its a wire in door. The rear windows are unable to move but passenger side rear window falls down, probably the regulators. Im new to opening up door panels. • front driveshaft was removed before i got the WJ. Maybe the transfer case is bad? • not sure how to test transmission fluid to see if i can change it and not lose friction disk material ans have a gear slippage. I really want to change it. • probably need to change rear diff fluid. • the coolant is the old green type which is wrong. Manufacturer FSB says to only use HOAT coolant (Zerex G05), that means new thermostat and housing(aluminum) and hoses. • have a O2 Sensor high voltage code Bank 2 Sensor 2: (P0161). Dont know how to fix that. (P0158) • Have an EVAP code: P1494 Maybe you can do videos for this?

Ray It's always a good idea when replacing calipers. To crimp off the hoses and cut them straight off. It will save you from getting bludgeoned to death. Or a trip to the hospital. I watch your channel. I watch 'Just Rolled In'. The last few months noticed a metallic sound on brakes. Needed four rotors and pads. My normal repair place thought it was funny when I told them I watched bad brakes on you tube to only have the same problem. Least my rotor were still there, and not worn through. At timestamp 26:44 you are trying to remove a bearing by hitting it with a hammer and chisel while the hub is sitting on a cardboard box. You will have better luck if the hub is on a solid surface, such as the floor. The box absorbs the force of the blow which will not achieve the desired results.

I can't believe the bolts standing vertical on the leaf spring did not fall down while you were hammering off the first rotor. Also, the gentle set down of that 3rd can of brake clean got me... 😆

That's my frustration with owning common cars up here in ct, everytime I go to get a part from the store, they say they have it but the kids that work there take it off the shelf without deleting from the system. So I'll have to hit up 2~3 places to get a honda accord rotor or a jeep cherokee wheel bearing... and sometimes they put the old part back in the new box and put it on the shelf.

I think we should note for all the 40mm plus wheel spacer guys. Yes massive factory spacers, notice the size and how many nuts are holding it in place

Yes I am sure you copped a lot of flack for the lack of maintenance of your daily, but it is what it is Ray making money feeding the family and creating a business was top of the list mate. Growing up in rustbelt, I always use antiseize between the brake tubing and its hollow screw. They always come loose when I want them to !

Howdy Ray - 53:16 on that one bearing hub bolt which kinda stripped by using the 12 point socket 41:35 , it looks like it slipped a little just before you said "click"- as you took that bolt off using a box end wrench, it might have been wise to tighten that slightly stripped bolt head with a box end wrench to make sure it was properly torqued down due to it's slightly stripped hex.
