Rainy Day Exploring at Mount Wells

I head out for a hike to Mount Wells in Langford, B.C. and the rain started as soon as I stepped outside my Jeep.
I decided to do a little more exploring and following a trail I had not been down before. I have to be careful because I'm out later in the day and I'll be chasing the sunset if I'm not careful.
The rain soaks me through and I was getting quite chilly.

Usually if it is raining, I'll try to find something to do indoors. This day, II decided to go out anyway. It wasn't supposed to be raining that much though, lol😁 Once I'm out there and moving, I really appreciate the different types of views that we get out there in that type of weather.

At least with the rain, it's not dusty out there! This was a great day out even though I got soaked and a little chilly. The views up there are beautiful😁

Some of them they really do! These are pretty close to town so it's easier to get the staff up there to maintain it. It's a great view and was pretty cool to see with the clouds😁

I don't know if they are necessarily the best, but they certainly are great for those of us that chase waterfalls😁 I enjoyed the hike out there even though I was soaked and a little chilly at the end. It's fun exploring new places😃

Thank you, Juliana😁 Yes, a little bit a rain is no barrier to the curious soul. I took is slowly and make sure to keep checking the GPS so that I would not get lost and have to come down in the darkness. It was very interesting and beautiful up there😃

I'd rather have snow than rain, but I live on the West Coast so I get a lot of rain in the winter😁 If I get out of the house when it's not raining and then get to my destination when it is raining, I'll go for it and hope that it''' stop raining. This day it didn't stop, lol😃 It was still great to be out there!

I try to be careful😁 That's why I got out with two phones that have GPS on them. I don['t want to get lost! It was a chilly one at the end, but I made it😃

Thanks, Danny😃 I was certainly nervous of the rocks, but my boots seemed to do ok on them. I was pretty careful though. Yeah, the views up there are pretty awesome😁 enjoyed the clouds in the sky adding that look too.

Thanks, Rob😊 It really is beautiful! Yeah, that building site is "progress". I don't like it, but there is nothing I can do about it so I try to point the camera and my focus to the other side😁 This one is obviously closer to the city so that is to be expected, I guess. Still a nice day out😃

That was a very lush and green area but man I can imagine those rocks were a little tricky to navigate.I hate hiking in the rain but hey....no such thing as a bad hike! Have a great weekend my friend.

I was a little concerned about the rocks. With my hunting boots, they seemed to be ok, which was surprising. It still will be cautious every time. I've had a slip off rocks before that really hurt me. Normally, if it's raining, I won't head out. I went out this day because it wasn't supposed to be much rain. Just a little spitting. Someone forgot to tell the weather that😂 I do like the different types of views we get when it rains and is cloudy though! I hope you're having a great weekend as well, Jim😁

I see you got the Talkpod A36plus. Even in the fog, there are such beautiful views . Wow, that is one heck of a climb. Unbelievable terrain. What a great hick even if it was raining.

This was one of my trips where I took the Talkpod out to test it. It was good to have some rain coming down on it the whole time to test the water resistance and also test turning it on in the rain. Parts of this video made it into my demo of the radio. Yeah, I really enjoy the different types of views we get with the crappy weather! It's still beautiful out there😃 It's not super far, but the climb really gets you going up all at once to test your cardo. I enjoyed it even though my hoodie soaked up all the water and I was wet and a little chilly. The hoodie was quite heavy afterwards😁

Well, regardless of the rain, a day out hiking is good and fun. I'll take a bit of rain rather than extreme heat and all the insects coming hand to hand with that any day of the week... I usually won't start out in the rain, but this day I needed to get out. Yes, the extreme heat is no fun and I do not enjoy all the biting insects. In some of the places, we can get lots of those insects coming in for a meal🦟🦟 It really is amazing the landscape here. It's too bad that more of the local forests get cut down for more "progress". Luckily, can still get out of town and see more forest. Have a great weekend yourself😁

I didn't notice it being too slippery, but I was being very cautious to not test anything! I was beautiful out there so I'm glad I went😃

I really got soaked on this one, lol😁 My hoodie felt super heavy after I took it off🌧🌧 I do like the look of the mountains out there during the rain with the clouds blowing by. I think we may get some sun this week, so it's looking like a good one😁 I hope you have a great week as well😃

That is one of the reasons I have a cellphone that can be out in the rain. I can still video😁 It is beautiful out there and the rain clouds give it a little extra beauty to look at and watch as they blow by.

'Cougar in area' sign just ramped my adrenaline up, and I'm not even in the same country! 🤣 How the heck did you proceed? I've seen videos of them jumping on grown men's backs and aiming for the neck- terrifying! I would've had a bear spray in-hand and ready. 😂 You are braver than me. 👊

The mountains are pretty, even though it's foggy. The cinder blocks in the trail were odd; they should fix that. I hate when I think I'm recording, and in fact, I am not. That was a kind sign. Very, very pretty views! The fog adds a unique beauty of its own. That looks like a great place for a Hobbit House. 😊 What a beautiful hike! 😁💚👊 It looked like an owl to me too. 🤷‍♀️

The cougars generally will go after small dogs and children. I'd never been scared of them growing up. I was more concerned with a bear getting me. I'm alert out there, but I just keep moving and focus on the beauty of the area. If an encounter were to happen, I'd try not to freak out and be loud and obnoxious😁 I do carry bear spray, but it's in a side pocket in my pack. It should really be more accessible and carried on a belt or on my chest. I'll have to look into that.

Not a big fan of the rain either. When I hike in the rain it usually arrives during the hike and the keep going or turn back i will get wet.. Break out the poncho...LOL I know the rocks and roots get very slippery in the rain. But when the rain stops everything smells so fresh.

I don't have a poncho yet. I've been thinking of one. I think they allow a little more airflow so I may try one. It seems the rain doesn't stop all winter here, lol😁 You're right though, it makes it smell nice out there after a good rain.

Man what a sad spot for a subdivision, it kind of ruins the view and you know all those people that live there are going to trash the trails most likely.

It really does ruin the view! I don't know how much more they are going to do, but there has been a building explosion on Vancouver Island! Yes, it is sad☹ There will be more trash and dog poop bags on the trails, I'm sure!
