Hi! Spring has come! I came to my underground house to clean up after winter! At the end of winter the door broke, I had to make a new one, it turned out to be durable! The days were rainy, but the underground house was always warm and cozy! The animals continue to visit, this time an elk and a raccoon came to visit at night, and an owl also flew in in the evening! You are very lucky, you were not on the flood plain of the river, like Alex was. If you saw how bad his hut was damaged by the floods. It's great your hut survived the winter, with just a door to repair.

I saw the damage Alex's hut took. So much mud and silt. I was surprised when it happened. It was obviously an oversight on Alex's behalf when picking a spot to build on.👑

@@AnotherFacelessNameless I know the hut is too close to the river, set in the ground like that. I asked him the other day about waterproofing on the inside, I don't know if that is even possible seeing the hut is dug feet into the earth. I imagine you'd have to dig around to set a waterproof membrane in the ground, then pull up the floor to finish the job?? I guess solid waterproofing a dug in hut was not top of mind. Several other huts I know of on the river, on other channels were also flooded and destroyed as well. I think that would be a costly endeavor for him. If he wanted to keep that property, I'd dig it all up, salvage all the timber, dig a hole farther away, water proof the dugout hole, THEN lay the logs in for the rebuild. It is a costly and time consuming effort, and would it be worth it, if he isn't using it but for infrequent visits here and there?? It's not like a permanent home away from everyone else out there.

Next Time Rebuilding The Outer Door; USE THREE Hinges And Maybe Try Using A Very Heavy Duty (Doubled) Camouflage Patterned Tarp. Then Just Throw Tree Limbs And Debris On Top Until Your Next Visit.
