rainy season bikepacking! nikko & chuzenji-ko 🇯🇵 // climbing the irohazaka ➭ chapter 2

With ryokan hotels and onsen baths re-open, we decided to enjoy a credit card bikepacking tour! This is chapter 2 of a week-long adventure through Japan's North Alps of Gunma and Tochigi. The best days come right after the rain, so please watch to the end to see us through the storm.

For anyone planning a cycling trip to the Japanese countryside, here is our week-long itinerary:
day 1 - kiryu, gunma to iizuka-tei in nakagawa/batou, tochigi
day 2 - exploring the hills and rice fields around nakagawa/batou
day 3 - batou, tochigi to chuzenji-ko (up the infamous irohazaka)
day 4 - cycling the hidden gem of oku nikko: the car-free eco line!
day 5 - chuzenji-ko to takaragawa onsen
day 6 - exploring local climbs in the vibrant north alps surrounding takaragawa
day 7 - takarawaga to kiryu, gunma through the incredible backroads of minakami and akagi.

You can call me Moe - I currently live and ride in Gunma, Japan. My goal is to get more humans on bikes to explore the Japanese countryside.
