I just found this video after wracking my brain whether going to Peru in January would be worthwhile. This makes me feel a lot better! Still undecided on whether I want to gamble on the Salkantay Trek into Machu Picchu... but I guess it's not like I'll melt :)

We had such a great time and found so many advantages by traveling during low/rainy season. Having said that, we did not do any long treks or hikes (max a couple of hours). It would be a mixed bag, but an experience nonetheless! :)

I am exactly doubting the same thing. But indeed, this video is convincing. Perhaps we will meet on a hike in 2 months:)

Ok I will go to Cusco soon in Feb, thanks a lot for such positive affirmation:) and I love your smiles:)

So glad you enjoyed the vid! In Feb the Inca Trail and some surrounding hikes to Machu Picchu are closed for maintenance, so if you’re looking to stretch your legs Jan or Mar would be better to take advantage of the low-season perks. Happy travels!!

Wonderful to hear you enjoyed it! We love December in Peru, the weather changes, the sun comes out, and the festive vibe overtakes the country 😊💛

Thanks for this great video! Will be visiting next week and was a little skeptical due to rainy season but decided to give it a shot. Very helpful information :)

Excellent! Tourism is still fairly low in Peru at the moment so you should be able to enjoy the perks of fewer visitors. ¡Buen viaje! 😊

I'm going late rainy season and am very happy with this vid🤗 But... I am walking up there bc the train, worth as it may be, is sooo expensive!

Late rainy season is a good call. And there’s nothing like the beauty of trekking your way there! Have a great trip! 🤗✈️

What month did you go
@infamousrainbow46922 жыл бұрын
I went in late february, early march. I was not bothered by rain anytime and only used my rain coat a few times. On the walking up there: the road along the tracks is made of railroad stones and is very uneven so it is a tough trek. I ended up booking a cheap (night) train back and was very happy for it!

Guys, I'm planning to go to Machu Pichu mid december, what do you think it's the best time of the day to visit?
@limagourmetperufoodtours8 ай бұрын
Awesome! From 9am-12pm is generally your best window in December. If you go earlier, you can run into the morning mist and it rains many afternoons. Buen viaje!

Nice video, guys. Really enjoyed it! I will be in Peru in April/May. Really looking forward to it!!! Sam, are you originally from Boston? I see the kids are wearing Boston University shirts. Cute! :) I live in Massachusetts. Might have to drop in on the Lima Gourmet while I'm in Lima.

Thank you!!! April/May is one of the best times to come because you’ll still catch Lima’s warm weather AND rays of sunshine in the Andes. It’s one of the travel sweet spots for coming to Peru. I’m (Sam 😊) from Kansas City but MA is on my own bucket list! Thought we could manifest a trip with those shirts, haha. Safe travels and see you in Lima!

Thanks for mentioning remedies to deal with altitude sickness and how rainy it actually gets during the rainy season! I’m contemplating the idea of visiting Machu Picchu in January!

ok i wanted to confirm.. Its rainy and low season in cusco in January but its the peak summer dry and hot season in Lima?
@limagourmetperufoodtours3 жыл бұрын
Excellent question! Yes, that’s correct. While Jan and Feb are peak rainy season months in the Andes, it is warm, dry, and sunny summertime in Lima and along the coast.
