Those onions looked fantastic! So healthy and green. That soil you have looks red, but I bet it has loads of nutrients in it.

It's a combination of compost and MG Potting Mix. This year I'm fertilizing with Master Blend, added nitrogen and Epson salt. Final analysis will be approx. 18-18-36. I think it's going to be a winner.....Donald

Donald, I see you're on the same diet that I'm on since having our heart attacks! My Dr. finally called me because she hadn't seen me since the surgery 2-1/2 yrs ago. I sure got my butt chewed out too when I went to see her. Glad to see the gardening is going good. I need to get mine tilled soon. We've had some 70's here in southern NM.
@webcajun10 жыл бұрын
I’ve never gone back either, not going through that surgery again. Learned to work around things making it a little easier to garden, like these raised beds. Hope you have a great season…..Donald

webcajun I hear ya! They'll just gripe about diet and want to prescribe a bunch of pills that will make you feel like crap and make the pharmceautical companies rich. Then in about 2 or 3 years the lawyers are advertising lawsuits on TV against the pharmaceautical companies because patients died after taking the meds r had all kinds of side effects. Keep up the gardening and I know you're eating healthy with all those vegiies! ;) see ya on the next video!

Nate … I think you could grow green onions year round in your area. Onions are pretty tough and don’t mind a little cold weather. This morning we’re getting ice pellets with 20-25 mph winds, they’ll come out just fine…..Donald

Hi, Mr. Donald, will you please be sure to make a video when you harvest the carrots out of your raised bed? I've tried for two years to get carrots and I haven't been successful. I want to see how yours turn out. Thanks. I really love your videos. You're the reason I started gardening.

I pulled about half of em so far with mixed results. Those that hadn’t been thinned out enough were still small but I did have some that looked real good next to em. It all comes down to spacing……Donald

Hi Donald just found your videos i also live in Louisiana. In Iota Louisiana we also plant a large truck patch but its been so wet this year can't get in the garden to till it up with the tractor love your raised beds I will build me some. For these wet times
@webcajun10 жыл бұрын
Hey Scott ... Wet conditions was one of the reasons I built the raised beds. I was losing lots of vegetables because of it being too wet to get to em. Now I can plant fewer plants and harvest all of em even after a big rain…..Donald

My mouth is already watering for some of those delights, and this year they are going in the ground for sure. It's going to snow again on Wednesday here, so it's going to be a while before mine go in, and since we have also had way below 0 degrees here again this year, I don't even know when to plant anything anymore. Weird weather is making me crazy, but seeing your gorgeous sunshine, sure did lift my spirits, and gave me new hope for spring again. Great video, Bless, Sheila

Check to see you have a food bank/soup kitchen in your area. I take anything extra and it seems I always grow more then I can eat or give to my neighbors to the food bank and they go nut over it because they rarely get any fresh vegetables.

@jus4funtim10 жыл бұрын
webcajun That's a shame Donald. My food bank is also the Senior Citizens center that's about 10 miles away. I just started going there with the extra food I have grown because of videos like yours that have helped me grow more vegetables then I can deal with. Iv'e had to retire because of COPD but I can still get around in the garden ( takes me twice as long ) but I have found I can grow 20 head of lettuce just as easy as 10 and I started 50 head because I thought only half would make it. Well 49 made it, I'm glad I staggered some by a week. Keep the videos coming I'll be watchin.

How should I control fire ants in my raised bed gardens, I live in south Louisiana also
@webcajun9 жыл бұрын
Although I’m not considered an organic gardener this year I’m giving “Organic One” a try in controlling the fire ants in the beds. I sprinkled it on one ant pile and it appears it either killed them or ran them off. I noticed yesterday I had another pile in the other bed. Going after it this afternoon. According to the label it can be used around vegetables. Like anything labeled “organic” it’s very expensive so you may want to try a small container of it first…..Donald

Did you delete your master blend video? I can't find it on youtube anymore. I wanted to know the formula because I want to fertlize things soon, thank you :)
@webcajun9 жыл бұрын
PokeyBessie I deleted it last night. Apparently I didn’t take enough time to explain it very well and folks were getting confused about how much to use and how much water to mix the fertilizer into. Most needed to add it to 1 or 2 gal. water cans and that would have made the mix way, way too strong. I was concerned that they would burn up their plants. The Calcium Nitrate boost the nitrogen level up too much for so little water. I think it would be safe to use the Master Blend alone at 1 tablespoon per 2 gals of water adding about half a tablespoon of Epson Salt and NO Calcium Nitrate. I'll probably do another video for those who don't have a large water tank to mix it in…..Donald
