Raising a 'theybe': checking in with the Florida family raising a gender neutral child

Sparrow, the little "theybe" from Florida instantly became famous in 2019 after 10 Tampa Bay introduced the world to the gender-neutral parenting phenomenon.
"Theybies" are babies being raised without known genders. The word is a play on the word "they" derived from the idea that the child would use they/them pronouns, a gender neutral alternative to she/her or he/him.
Sparrow's family intended to shield their biological sex from the outside world even going so far as to only allow trusted caregivers to change diapers.

I'm going to be insensitive and write the below comment using biological terms because writing and reading "they/them" everywhere sounds beyond weird and is incredibly difficult to follow. This woman claims she wants her kids to make their own decisions when it comes to gender identity, but it's very obvious she is influencing them with her own opinions about gender. On Good Morning Britain she said her other daughter identifies as non-binary just like the adults in the household. Given that a very small minority of the population have this issue, I find it incredibly unlikely they coincidently raised a kid who also happens to have gender identity issues. It's incredibly obvious the kids are confused and being persuaded by the parents views on gender. Put that kid with two normal parents...a man and woman...or even just a normal gay couple who believes in male/female identities and I guarantee you she wouldn't even think twice about identifying as her biological sex/gender.

I was transgender, but de-transitioned. There are only two genders (male and female). So if my soon-to-be 2-year-old son pooped his diaper and needs changing, according to this "woman", it should be his choice if he remains in that old diaper or get a new one. You're probably wondering that this is very stupid, but this is literally the same application with what the lady is doing to her kids. That's why "parents" exist, it is our responsibility to make decisions for our children until they turn 18 years old which in general consensus is when a person is deemed experienced and mature enough to make decisions for their own. The parents are adults (over 18) so we know the risks involved. In another video, she said if her daughter, Sparrow, doesn't want to go to school, "it is her choice" is just pure insanity to me.

Listen, I don’t actually agree with either side in this discussion. I think they’re both wrong in spectacular ways. Yep, the only reason the mother decided to raise him differently is because Ari hates men. Yep, Ari outed his "gender" aka his sex in the beginning when she started doing interviews. She messed up and called him a "he" on live television. The mom said that when she is seen as a person, she feels illuminated. Her need to be seen as a person outside of the body and the rules that govern society, is to me, a cry for being seen as something or somebody beyond the physical. “I wanna be a girl” 🤦🏻‍♂️ the kid doesn’t even know if it’s a boy or a girl.. doesn’t know what those words really mean … I think the kid is a boy.. in another interview with the mom she almost used he/him pronouns to talk about her baby and quickly stoped herself (the mom was gonna say “his” instead she said “hi….” Stoped herself in the middle of the word 😂)

It is not my issue if someone thinks of me as an object/non-person because I am a woman. I am confident and proud to be a woman and I think I am no less a person because of that. I make my own rules for how a woman behaves simply by being myself.

Why can't you be what you are at birth and do what ever it is that you want to do? Simple. We live in a world where you are not restricted by gender anymore. Why go through dangerous operations and cut of parts of your body and for whom? As soon as that child in the video get's a little bit older, it will compare certain body parts with another kid anyway. Kids are not stupid.
