If you need help raising a baby bird, you can use the information and diet on this video. You can send me questions, I will try and answer them as soon as I can.
For more info you can visit this following page which is for baby Sparrows and Starlings but works for most wild baby birds. www.wildlifehotline.com/wp-con...
Birdy, our baby European Greenfinch was orphaned when high winds dropped him from his nest. He was only 5 days old. This was the first time we ever found ourselves in such a situation and we hope that our experience can help others who find themselves raising a baby bird.
Remember: Birds are meant to be free, to fly and live in the open sky...

It's not crazy..believe me..they remember. I once raised a wild baby bluejay . Me and my ex separated and the bird (Mr. Blue) ended up 50 miles away with a friend. One day the lady forgot and had the window open and Mr Blue took off. I by this time had no idea what had happened to him and was just going on with my life. One day about 1 year later (trying not to cry ) I was telling someone in there backyard in the general area where he was originally raised about Mr Blue and down from the tree came Mr Blue!! He landed on my knee and was playing with my short strings (I had cut offs on at the time). I knew it was him because he lost a toe nail in a cage I had made him. He still remembered me after all that time! He took off finally, and I never saw him again. Maybe he just wanted to say thank you for rescuing him and say good bye one last time. So don't be surprised one day if your little bird comes back to say hello..

Adorable! We rescued a baby dove a couple of years ago. We thought he was a goner. He was ice cold to the touch, barely alive. I put him between my palms and kept him there until he started moving. Soon, he was making little whistling noises and trying to sit up. So, we kept him for about three weeks, until he was strong and had all of his feathers. Then we gave him to a wild bird sanctuary (very traumatic for us!). I loved the way he demanded food by rapidly batting his wings. After raising him, I noticed that behavior in wild birds who had fledged from their nest but were still following their parents around and demanding food. I also saw a female sparrow do that in order to coax a male to mate with her.

I looked after a baby sparrow for 3days..But I knew deep down in my heart he had to go to a proper wild bird farm..I brought him back from near death and gave him a chance in life. I work to long hours to give him the attention he need..I cryed for hours when I had to say goodbye.. But I'm glad I gave him love,warmth and care..Strange how something so beautiful can melt your heart and hurts to part with..I just rang the place he is cared for and they have informed me I done a great job and he is doing fine..Yes!!! Fly high beautiful..I love you.💞💞

Or Alice Wolman, and fend off all by himself? both parents teach their chicks how to survive in the wild, how to find food, how to spot predators, etc. Highly likely this bird didn't survive very long, of course they're exceptions. I would've kept it.

@maevaedwards
@maevaedwards 7 жыл бұрын
Alvaro Quesada you are very negative. It's very sad to look at the world that way.... I felt I had to give this bird a second chance at life when I found him, and I did. These birds leave the nest at 14 days. Very young. Their parents only feed them and then they leave them on their own. They don't teach them about predators or how to get food. It's a natural instinct. They don't teach them how to fly either. Birdy knew how to fly all on its own.... I didn't teach him. He just knew. Alvaro, you have to see the positive in things and try to help when you can. I believe life gives you back what you give to others. And I'm a very happy person. Blessed to see how a little effort can change someone's life, or save a little creature and give it a second chance. Life can beautiful, but it's up to you to make it that way.

or wolman, no it's not good that she let him go..that poor birdy is dead , why do i say that because a captive bird growing up and fed by a human doesn't know how to forge for food on their own....biggest mistake a non bird expert would do..if you ever find a lost bird then decides to rescue it please,"DON"T EVER LET IT GO FREE LIKE THAT''...his chance of making in this world is ZER0....when they're with thier parents they were taught what's food and where to look , predictors etc...only inexperience person would say the thing you would say..go ask any bird rescue place if birds raised from a baby would make it in our world, when they have no clue where to find food?!

I found a dove egg and it hatched in my hand! I’ve had him for 4 days now and he’s very crazy. I feed him water with crushed seeds but strained so it’s just seed water and cooked egg yolk. He loves it! On day 5/ when he opens his eyes I will mix in some small seeds with his formula and start making it thicker and adding more ingredients such as dog food crushed finely and crushed oatmeal. He’s doing good so far but it never stops me from worrying that one day he may not make it through the night.i hope he does good!

@VlogGrrr
@VlogGrrr 7 жыл бұрын
Tahishaly Fontanez He should be reaching that point soon at about 6 weeks or so. Continue to feed him how you've been doing but start dropping some of his food on the floor right in front of him and let him peck at it for himself. Then pick it up and feed it to him. After a couple of days he'll actually peck at it and pick it up himself. Continue to feed him yourself but do this exercise as well and introduce a bowl of food in his cage.

I was in NYC a wk. after 9-11 with a cousin in summerhaven park, a raven or some kind of big blackbird flew down to us a said hello, hi, how are you doing, then it said something about food. We couldn't understand much of what he was/she was saying, didn't have any food, and feeding birds is illegal in NYC, so we didn't feed him. Then he told us to fuck off, and flew away! Another time; a blackbird in the same park brought us a metal washer and i think it was a paper clip. We couldn't figure out why, but it seemed as if they were trying to say something to us. Years later i watched some documentaries on ravens, starlings, and crows; they learn to speak, and are very intelligent for a wild bird. Metal objects are gifts of appreciation or thanks. It is said that small, shiny, objects are especially a token of thanks for something. I can't think of why a bird would be thankful to us, we stopped the car to get out to stretch a while. It is a very good feeling to know that at least some wild animals in nature appreciate you!

We have a bird nest very close to the ground, one day I looked in it, and found a mummy bluetit sitting on eggs. Our bird bath fell over because of the wind a couple days later. The mum and dad had abandoned their babies. So I soaked dog food in warm water and added a bit of sugar, then fed it to the babies on a tiny spoon. I got a screen wiper (the size of my palm) and put it on the radiator. I then put the warm fabric on top of the what looked like 6-8 baby bluetits. We are thinking about bringing them inside our home

I have always raised baby birds of all kinds and the formula I have found that works best having spoken to avian vets is dry cat food, and liquid calcium being the main two ingredients. Of course you soften the dry cat food in water, but never forget the liquid calcium. That is very important for all birds of all ages. Not saying what you are doing here is wrong. Just putting out what I did when I raised baby birds.

Well we can’t keep birds forever but eh what can you do birds do whatever they want and I even had a little baby duck at my friends house it was ton of fun but baby ducks doesn’t really need cages all they need is an box and then take good care of them but this video deserves a like after all if I see an nest where their parents are gone when I gladly take good care of them

I've got four baby birds rn. I think something killed the mother because I was hearing them chirp loudly for about two days and when I went near them I didn't get a "get away warning from the mother" (a mother never leaves her babies for long) so I started feeding them and then on a stormy night I brought them in my house (a tornado was coming) and I've decided to raise them myself. They are about 5 days old or so rn. Talk about some work. Feeding 4 baby birds every hour or two is a lot or work!

You did an awesome thing for this bird. Very unselfish too. You are to be praised and I am so glad you posted this and shared it with everyone. Wonderful job, beautiful. You have a wonderful family, and beautiful spirit to take such kind care of one of God's smallest creatures. Birds are very intelligent. I would not be surprised if he is near by when the season is right for him to be flocking in your neighborhood with his friends. We have different species of finches which fly in from Mexico and different places generally in the spring around March to April, depending on our weather here in Oregon. If it is too cold, they come late, if it is warm, they come early. It is a sign for us that spring has arrived. Thanks for sharing, I am bedridden much of the time, this made my day! Bless you!

I just found a lonely bird and I’m watching this video on how to take care of it, is the hot water bag just...hot water in a bag?
@maevaedwards

Hi a hot water bag is a plastic bag especially made to hold water. It must be placed close to the bird but not too close because too much temperature can kill the bird.

Little birdy is now flying and telling the story about the great kind giants who saved his life and feed him as a baby. The story will live forever and is still shared between the flying angels.

this is the types of videos you don't want to do!!!!! this baby bird is dead by the 4th day, because he has no clue what to look and where for food...he's dependent on you to feed him..if you ever rescue any more baby birds than please keep it til he die or else leave him to his fate..i know cause i raised asian exotic song birds..i have shama thrush raised from baby hand fed and i can release it but when he's hungry he'll return to his cage to eat...if you raised 100 baby birds from chicks to adult and released it like that 99.9 will die due to lack of knowledge to forge for food unless you put up the types of plants that produces seeds from out side that others birds of it's kind eating then he;ll know some what to live by.

I have two chickadees that i raised from hatchlings that a friend found that fell out if a nest. I raised them and i wish that i didn't have to give them up but i don't really have a choice. Their names are Rebel and Sharky. Only problem is that when you release birds into the wild, the don't fear people anymore which often leads to harm, im conflicted. It's not fair to keep them in a cage fir the rest of their lives but then if i let them go, they could die

Look, Birdy was okay with me feeding him, but he was never really at ease either. Birds have natural instincts. I didn't teach him to fly or to eat. He just did both naturaly. I studied the idea of keeping him, but Greenfinches live 13 years and Birdy would escape his cage. He wanted to be free and fly in the open sky. The last time he escaped, he hurt himself with the cieling so that's when we decided he had to be let free. I'm sure he has completely forgotten the time he spent with me. If he had gown up with his real parents, I'm sure he would have forgotten them too. It's like my cat, he likes to hunt even though he has never had to do it to feed himself. He has more than he can eat, still his animal instincs kicks in.
