Water changes are dictated by bioload and filtration. Higher the bioload and less filtration = more frequent and higher volume water changes. Every tank is different. If my discus were over stocked I may need to change the water every 2 days. Currently I have a 150 gal, 13 adult discus, 40 gal sump, but I do water changes every 3-4 days about 50%
