Our Mission
Founded in 1997 in Cedar City Utah, we are a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, wildlife and environmental education, and the development of the Cedar Canyon Nature Park.
Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release
The Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah (SWF) cares for more than 100 sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife annually. Restoring them to health and returning them to the wild is our primary goal, but for those that cannot be released due to disabilities, the Cedar Canyon Nature Park (CCNP) can provide them with a permanent home in a natural setting while enhancing our visitors educational experience at the park.
Informing, Educating and Inspiring
The SWF provides over 100 educational programs reaching over 30,000 people annually. We believe providing educational outreach programs to schools, scout groups and community events, with focus on children and families, will make the greatest impact in preserving our wildlife, the environment, our public lands and our resources for future generations to enjoy.
Martin Tyner
Since age twelve, with a bird on his arm, Martin has captivated audiences sharing his knowledge and experience of his wildlife friends.
At age nineteen, Martin was hired as curator of birds of prey at Busch Gardens, CA. He also worked in the movie and television industry training big cats, elephants, primates, sea mammals and raptors.
“One of my greatest childhood fantasies was the desire to create a personal friendship with a wild eagle. I found myself with a love and fascination for these powerful creatures.”
Martin Tyner is a federally licensed falconer, eagle falconer, wildlife rehabilitator, wildlife propagator, and wildlife and environmental educator.
He has been providing wildlife and environmental programs throughout the western United States, to schools, scouts and community groups for over fifty years.

Susan, they might not eagles, but you did some beautiful work caring for those robins, even the slowpoke one. I had to play uncle to a baby robin once, helping it find shelter in the rain, saving it from a snake, teaching it how to fly, and even rescuing it from the house roof because it got stuck and was scared to come back down. They're a handful but you can't help but love them.

Same here! Mine fell out of his nest in a horrible storm when I walked up on him he was barely alive wet and freezing I wrapped him in a clean washcloth and a towel and wrapped a heating pad around him. He warmed up and this morning he was STARVING! So I brought him to work with his heating pad and dog food and I just feed him every 2-5 hours depending on if he seems receptive of the food seems to be doing very well. He sang to me the whole way to work haha

Thank you for sharing that. I had a Robbin nest on my power box and I think it’s 3 chicks survived but when they left I was just about to take the nest down and there was another mother Robbin in the nest. I wanted to discourage her from nesting there but since she had already laid a couple eggs I left her alone. Yesterday, about 3 weeks later...I watched a black rat snake get up there and eat one of the new born chicks and I drove the snake off before it ate the others. Kind of wishing I took the three chicks that were left to a rehabber because I came home tonight and the nest was knocked down and the chicks were nowhere to be seen. Oh well, Robbins eat worms and other bugs...snakes eat Robbins, eagles eat snakes...it’s good to know that God made all these things to do this and He made man to live forever on a new planet where we will be perfect and enjoy these things forever. (Revelations 21 talks about this.). Have a good one

@@GowildlifeOrg The precious little Robin passed away at 3:30 AM. I was holding him in my hand. I find comfort in the words of Jesus, "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father's care." Matthew 10:29 It wasn't lost on me that the little guy died on Good Friday. Jesus didn't die to redeem humankind only but all of His creation. Thank you for what you do every day to render aid to God's creatures. You are His hands and feet.

There was a nest on top a raingutter downspout's elbow underneath the roof's soffit a few yrs back. Homeowner assured me the nest was empty. Climbed the ladder over 25 ft to get to it. But when I moved the nest, immediately 2 robin chicks flew out. One floated to the ground, but landing killed him. The other landed injured. I put the live one back in the nest. But he died, too. Felt bad. Because it was Autumn-time, I believed the homeowner. Never saw the parents.

My mum always says “robins are jerks” because she once saw a baby robin dead that was pushed off by its mother. But my dad put a bird nest up on a shelf we had outside and a robin stayed there. My mum was very mad she was about to trash the nest until she saw.. A baby robin egg. She showed me and I picked it up. Then she yelled and said “why would you do that!?” And I cried. Then later found out it was a myth that the mummy robin could smell the eggs or baby’s. I then later went out to check on the egg again and then I saw... Another baby robin egg! I was so happy and told my mum, she was surprised. I really want to raise one but I know it’s wrong. But that’s all of my story. Thanks for reading!
