Triops´s exo-skeleton consists of calcium, which they can consume if you leave thier old skin in the aquarium, or if you leave cuttlebone in there. When triops shed, they grow. But if triops dont have a readily available source of calcium, they wont grow as big. This is why I reccomend leaving thier old skin in the aquarium after they shed.
@Stachli
@Stachli 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment! You're right, of course, but with me the Triops shed their skin so often that there are tons of skin lying around / swimming in the aquarium. And then I always remove only the roughest so that the aquarium is not so dirty. I don't get all of it anyway, and hopefully there'll be enough left inside :)

No, thats only necesseray for them to hatch. Later you should only add mineral water or tap water. If you have soft tap water at home, the eggs would maybe even hatch without distilled water. I wasn't able to try that myself yet, our tap water is too hard. Good luck! :)

Hi, what type of food were you using? I’m guessing the green powder was crushed spirulina. What is secondary food that you used? And do you know where I can get some? Thank you so much!
@Stachli

Hey :) Thats true, the first one was spirulina powder. But next, there are many different types of rearing feed/main feed, but most of them are similar. I use a certain food from a German manufacturer (aq4aquaristik) with which I`ve had good experiences so far. But I dont know whether they are also represented in your country or deliver there.

Hi, Your video was very like, thank you. I heard that Triops eggs are very hard. In the Japanese kit you put the eggs and a small amount of sand in a container and shake it for 2 minutes before putting it in the tank. Will the eggs hatch without any stimulation?

They should hatch without the "shaking-stimulation". To be honest, thats the first time I even heard that :D Which type of Triops is in the japanese kit?

@@pkkra Oh ok, so the eggs and the sand come separate? In our kits they are already combined. I guess thats the only reason why you have to shake them. Its just to mix it together, and not for "stimulation" for the eggs

Hello, I would like to build a bowl aquarium ecosystem (so, no filter, the bowl is big but not that big) and I was wondering if triops need a lot of swimming space and if they do well in room temperature water (around 13 - 20 Celsius I assume) and supposedly heavily planted environment to keep the water stable. Thanks!

Hey, im just about to start this and i have 3 questions 😊 1. If they do not hatch, can i dry them out and try again? 2. Does the water need to be a distilled, spring mix? Is just spring ok? 3. If they hatch and lay eggs, how do i make them hatch?
@Stachli
@Stachli Жыл бұрын
Heyy 😊 1. Yes, you can. But if they don't hatch because there are simply no good eggs, they won't hatch the second time either. 2. The distilled water is for making the water more soft, because they wont hatch in hard water. If your spring water is soft enough you can use it alone, but thats very unlikely. 3. You wait until they all have died (They wont live longer than 4 months), then you remove the water and dry the sand. Then you can start all over again.
