M6 Hellcat is a blast. Mine is heavily modded and pushing 17lbs of boost. You will need a clutch upgrade if you plan to run the car really hard.. Of course the driveshaft and axles can be a weak link if drag racing. Always a blast to run the car. Its never boring. You want a little more excitement install a pedal commander. Dont set it too high or downshifts will result in a change of shorts😁. I also have a Barton pistol grip shifter which makes shifting much nicer.

That's the same hood I have on my 19 scat pack. The GT and SS have nothing as cool. One problem though from my experience is the two outside vents will spit out whatever fluids are sitting on the motor and if I don't dry the engine after a wash I'll find spots on the hood and roof unless I let it air dry a while before driving. I'm sooo glad I can be alive to see this car and others like it legally exist.

It was optioned out for its time with the red alcantara seats, red seat belts, sun roof, block heater, satin hood (pain in the ass), has the 8 speed trans. 29k miles for 55k. A bit pricey but super fun car. The speed is incredible once it hooks. Dropping it doing 80 is like a rocket ship on the freeway. If you can find a cared for one, grab it while you can.

I know this comment is late for Joe, but there are easy fixes for the shift throws. I installed a Barton shifter in my 2012 R/T and it is *much* better to shift than the OEM shifter. It's very tight and seems nearly half the movement of the OEM unit. Hurst also makes a shifter for the Challenger as well, but the consensus is the Barton is the better one to use. I wouldn't know, as I've never driven one of those. So, it seams this is the only thing needed to make this car perfect.

Most people don't drive the better trim levels daily, and are only used on the weekends or at the strip. So you can find really nice ones with low miles, for a fraction of what they cost new and especially if you go for a manual. I've priced cats before, and the 8speed torqueflite cars are always more money. Although as far as racing goes, l most definitely prefer an auto because it's easy to miss gears when you're slamming em and have seen many people lose that way. Plus they shift so much quicker, and cannot miss either. They do make old school pistol grips for them as well as automatics, and are available at the mr. Norm's online store. I got one from them in my SRT8, but is for the autosticks and are pretty cool to. I had a 4-speed 68 Charger RT with added six pk in the late 90s, and once raced a Camaro SS 396 with turbo 400 and had it gapped. That is until I missed a gear with that damn long throw, and lost the race

Test drove a hellcat with the 6 speed manual. Still can’t understand where anyone got the idea that it has “too much power” to have a manual. I’ll never ever buy a muscle car without a manual unless they don’t offer a manual.

Great review Joe! Just need a widebody to get traction to those wheels with that much power. 275s just don’t cut it. One very cool car nonetheless. Maybe you can review that F430 in the background too?

Before you have interest in this ride, check IHHS for crash results because for some models got poor results. Later models may have been upgradded? Check before.

And on every challenger with face lift tail lights, the right side lights are not lined up good, lamp on bumper and trunk door not line up to eachother. How many other have noticed this? I saw it directly when they came out and you see it clear on this one too.

You seem more like a salesmen than someone I would trust to give me good advice on what to buy or not to buy. As for the Hellcat, I have driven both and the 6-speed is considerably slower than the 8-speed auto.

I bought a 2015 hell cat with 2895 mikes. Yes under three thousand mikes for $47k. It’s black on black. Gonna upgrade the exhaust and change the shifter to a Barton with pistol grip. Might. Be something to do to this one.

IGLA and manual transmission, best combo for anti-theft. They can’t start it and most can’t drive it. Only way they get it is with a tow truck which is riskier for thieves.

Get power down better. You could probably get used to it and get it down but people want that 100% speed straight out the box.

Would rather get a camaro ss1le. I don’t like the look of the hellcat. Challengers look like bulky oversized boats and they weigh way too much. Camaros are sexier and drive better/handle way better. But great review like always!
