I work at a toyota dealership. As we all know. The new 4th gen tacomas are now turboed through out all the trims. I notice those with the "fake" hood scoops (trd sport/pro) the engine bay is oddly cooler than other trims. I say odd bc usually turboed cars always have the hottest engine bay. But I notice they are cooled. If you take a look into the scoops, they are not block like the previous models. There is actually a opening. Yes it doesn't lead to like a air intake or something like you'd see on a maybe a TRX or raptor or something. But it does channel through the hood and into the turbos, blowing air down the to the ground and cooling the turbos and removing heat from the engine bay. Atleast for my experience.

Also I just can't justify my self spending over 50K for a god damned 4 cylinder car. No thanks. Don't care if it gets better MPG. If driven moderately the old 4 runner could get ~19 mpg on the highway. And that's just fine. The new Tacoma which the new 4 runner is directly based on is reported by reviewers of getting no more than 22 mpg.....that's really not great.

No one buys a 4runner for the MPG even with the battery you are only talking a 1-2 MPG better in real life and that battery will need to replaced at some point eliminating all your fuel savings if there is any and that is assuming the turbos don't need to be replaced before then.

The gloss black fender flares are just for the prototype. I'm waiting on this 2025 4-runner to come out. Still driving my 26 year old 98 Rav 4 with 395,000 miles, and it's still running strong!

Get mad at stupid government policies, not Toyota. They’re just trying to survive the strict regulations like everyone else. Downsized engines and electric isn’t necessarily the future… it’s just the future our government wants… which makes me question it entirely. I’m keeping my 10 year old Honda lol

I had a 1984 4-Runner,,,it was a 2 seat pick-up truck with the back window removed, a metal bench rear seat for max comfort bolted to the truck's metal bed, serious functional roll bar ( in lieu of seat belts in back seat) and removable fiberglass top. Very cool pitch/roll/ altimeter gauges......To go into 4 wheel drive you had to go each front wheel and with a "flick of the wrist" engage the axle locks.....damn thing rusted out far faster than my 1979 Fiat Spider.

4runner is superior in every way and built in Japan
@lostalx4 ай бұрын
@@koehh4652 Doesn't mean squat when the powertrain is a dud. GX is built in Japan too, you saw the hood flapping issue it has ? Lexus IS 500, my own car built at Tahara plant. Front Apron separation issue, Toyota TSB fix was glue and epoxy, that's a $72K car with taxes OOTD. That's your Toyota Japan. Lexus LS, massive failure. Toyota's good cars are the ones which are very old and still in production like RC F, LC 500. Rest all have compromises, ES 350 made in KY, USA is also a decent option.

Amazing looking vehicle! However, the i4 decision sucks, and pricing is insane! They should have supercharged the V6 with a 10 speed and stuffed it in there! It would have been a winner from the start.

😂 this is so bad its good. Man you really need to watch the 1980 film ‘Used Cars’ with Kirk Russel. Truck Looks good but it is not a ‘re-invent’ the wheel, it’s just a makeover. The proof will be in the engine/drivetrain
@g.fortin32283 ай бұрын
Hehehe... Nope. I'm keeping my '22 for a long time hopefully. It's not what I call fast but with the Banks installed it's not terrible, it's very reliable, and yes I had to change the factory shocks to get rid of brake dive and floaty feeling but now it's all good. Love it ! happy to have hydro PS too, not electric. best road feel.
