Went from my Mazda CX9 To the Santa Fe Limited Hybrid six weeks ago and I'm totally pleased. In the end did not feel I needed to go all the way up to the Caligraphy or to the much higher priced CX90. Also didn't want to have to plug anything in which was a drawback on the Mazda in my opinion. With the Hyundai hybrids, the car does all the work for you and shifts between electric and gas seamlessly. And we are loving the 600+ Miles to a tank of gas!
@alraguc3 ай бұрын
If you hve a place to plug a vehicle in, I don't understand why you would go fom a PHEV to a Hybrid. Getting 600+ miles on a tank of gas is good, but that means you are still spending $1500 a year on gas per year if you drive the typical annual mileage. We bought a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and have spent $300 in gas over one year. That's a savings of $1200 per year. Over 10 years, that a $12,000 savings over the Santa Fe. We all know gas goes up over the years, so probably a $15,000 savings. Also, less wear on the engine because we drive almost exclusively on electric but still use gas on long trips. One more thing, Mitsubishi ( and Mazda) have better reliability ratings than Hyundai as vehicle ages. Mitsubishi has been selling the PHEV in Europe and Australia for 15 years, so they have all the bugs ironed out. Hyundai and Mazda are both relatively new to the hybrid game.

Although the engine itself has been around for a few years. I have to say .... I have my doubts the vehicle is larger than previous model yet it has a smaller engine. To me that just means the engine is going to be working harder. Although, one could argue with it being hybrid it could in theory be working less. But, I will also give benefit of the doubt and hope that the engineers etc know what they are doing. I dont mind the outside. But I seriously have an issue with the green/white interior it is too much green. Sure the white makes it a lot lighter but doesnt outweigh all the green. And green is my fav color. The eternal Green is perfect but using it inside is too much I would much prefer the Black/ebony interior. As to them lowering the towing weight on this one... I wonder if that is a deliberate ploy and a requirement with having the smaller motor I would guess. The Palisade still has the higher towing weights. I wonder if they are more clearly defining intended use. Instead of having two competing vehicles now there is a distinction. Here at least (NZ) the Palisade is considerably more expensive than the Santa fe. If you need towing or do a lot of towing then go Palisade if only do a little bit of towing and more traveling then go Santa Fe.
