What is Postcolonialism?
Since I claim to be a postcolonialism scholar, I think it is apt to include a brief description of my field of study. In my view, Postcolonialism ( also written as Post Colonialism or Post-Colonialism) is a dynamic field of literary study that focuses on the history of colonialism and native responses to the colonial policies and life after colonialism formally ends. The field of postcolonialism also offers insights into the literature and culture of the the former European colonies and their struggles after the end of colonialism.

Signifier and Signified= Referent (meaning) which is arbitrary (unnatural/traditional) but the meaning gets fixed once it is accepted generally; Book is book as it is different from chair

Thank you. I think I said all that in this video. It is referent and not refered and in most cases, especially in highly symbolic language, there may be no actual referent.

@@masoodraja and sir I am not getting the notion of J. Lacan signifier. He says there is no connection between signifier and signified, instead he says the meaning comes out of the text due to the connection of signifiers. Is this possible? Secondly, we would be thankful if you record a video on Lacan's theory in terms of literary texts (specially with reference to Jacobson's phoneme analysis and Metaphor/metonymy synchronicization )

Sir! Why we deal R. Barthes as post structuralist more than structuralist? Foucault is also connected to Barthes 'Death of Author' making Foucault a structuralist! What is the controversy sir, kindly ,briefly explain how we can term these both philosophers as Post Structuralist?

Thank you. They both start as structuralists but why we consider them post structuralists would depend on understanding post structuralism itself. Obviously I cannot answer this in a comment. If I I have some time in the future I will try recording something on it.

I see it so because then the interpretation of text becomes 'Subjective' somewhere (According to new historicism and RRT ) Simply , can religious books like Quran, Talmud , Bible etc. be deconstructed per post-structuralist perspective?

@@masoodraja sir, thirdly, can we term Post-Structuralism as Psychological moment? As RRT stresses on the readers' response and readers' response is kind of thing related to the psyche of the readers (context of their mental awareness of things in their surroundings)

I don’t see it as a psychological movement, Foucault is clearly anti psychology. I would suggest taking a day or two to read up on post structuralism, as it is not a monolithic theory. Videos can help but they cannot replace deeper engagement with texts. Just start with a search online and then build on that.
