Rajesh Roshan, music composer on his father and career

Rajesh Roshan, music composer and younger brother of Indian filmmaker Rakesh Roshan speaks about his father Roshan and his career. He says, " I was in 8th standard when my father died and he never pressurized me to learn music but I used to listen to his compositions and the records we used to listen to at that time was of R. D. Burman, Madan Mohan etc. so the finest music was always coming to me. The truth is I was not that much influenced by is music at that time I like to listen to S. D. Burman, Shankar Jaikishan etc. and I used to often tell him that papa why don't you compose fast music like this and he used to say I will try but now I am realizing the there is a peace of mind in slow music which is not in fast music.
I never thought of becoming a musician because at that time kids were not that much sharp as today's kids. My mother forced me to get into music industry she started learning music from Faiyaz Ahmed Khan and along with her my interest developed in music. When I got training in music my mother requested Anand Bakshi who is a family friend of ours for my job with any good music director and he took me to visit Laxmikant Pyarelal who was a good friend of Anand Bakshi and I got the film music training from Laxmikant Pyarelal. I spent five years with him and Mehmood gave me the first break in film 'Kunwara Baap'

Rajesh ji, My grandfather (AmarNath Khokha died in 1998 at 84) is related to Roshan ji-- Roshan used to stay at Keeling Road in New Delhi and came for mushiara at 30 Nizamuddin East in 1963. He even gave Complimentary tickets to Taj Mahal to my grandparents.The night they saw it--during the song ,the hall was shaking-they thought it was the music.Later found that it was a mild earthquake in Kashmir in Sept.1963. My would be mom was at home,so they ran outside. Amar Nath ji always talked about Roshanji--told us that he is my distant cousin.Even Inder Gujral attended the mushiara.. We are in Chicago.Pl.come and stay with us and also let Hritik to bring his sons.They will enjoy meeting our family. Hope your brother's surgery went well and he is 100% Okay-but get rechecked. I am a gastroenterologists.

i can clearly tell that that particular song is a Rajesh Roshan song, by the way that he not onnly does he do huge arrangements, but also in the way that he uses chorus singers extensively in his songs. like Des Pardes, sara Zamana, Do aur do paanch, and Pardesiya, where the chorus is used quite prominently. We are all fond of Roshanji and Rajesh Ji music. Hritik Roshan is close to my age. One of our close friend Nisha Mathur interviewed Hritik for TV Asia many years ago. Nisha and I were born in Corning,NY. My father saw his first movie in 1948 with Dina Nath Madhok -whose nephew was my father's classmate.Madhokji took both of them to Theatre where NAO was playing. My father talked to Dr.Prithvi Madhok 2 years ago in Mumbai. Old memories.

When you get a super music director like Rajesh Roshanji to interview, how could you take it so lightly..Interviewer has done a bad job. Better research was needed. Questions were bad. Editing also unprofessional. All in all technically very poor quality. Expect much better from WildFilmsIndia..
